Photoshop Loading Problems

Photoshop 7.0 Loads really slow. I load it and the back drop window opens then 3-5 minutes later the loading box opens and it loads. Any ideas would be greatly appriciated.

Edit: I wrote this whole thred and edit while it loaded.

How many photoshop plugins and fonts do you have? The more you have, the slower photoshop tends to load. I'll check my Photoshop CS machine at home and see how long that takes.

The built-in defragger should work just fine. However, the full blown version of Disk Keeper (which is what the built-in defragger is based on) is a rather nice product. I use it myself. 20% fragmentation is pretty bad, although the first machine I ever ran a defragger on was almost 50%.

Either that, or there's some failing sectors on your hard disk. The change in speed appears to be a bit large for just 20% fragmentation to me.

The drive manufacturer usually has tools that can test the drive. They would be the best people to go to.
