Have you ever developed a colour flim yourself? It's actually quite easy and doesn't require any expensive equipment. Only draw back is that you need to develop a good number of films at a time, to avoid wastage of chemicals. Use slide film (positive) then you can just scan the film to you PC. No real need for any traditional printing....

Ihaven't developed film myself before, but I will have to consider it when the shops stop developing 35mm, which seems like it will happen pretty soon. However, if I can scan the film myself, then surely the shop can also scan it for me, since I don't own a scanner.

I would see if you can source an enlarger and do it yourself. If your gonna develop your own film, I feel you might as well go the full hog. Developing your own pictures is a LOT of fun and not too difficult, as long as theres a small room you can black out - or a shed. In Hove, some people use their beach huts as dark rooms. They take a picture, and 20 min later it's been developed and sold.
