Can you not burn the AVI files to CD, then make a .iso image file of that CD?

MagicISO is your friend.

At least, I think it is.

Which software are you using?

I do believe you can do this using an ISO file as the source.

if you "burn" the avi file to a *thinks* (been a while since i used it) virtual drive or whatever nero refers it as, it'll save an ISO image to your HD.

Yarg!! .ISO is an image format (not image as in photograph, but image as in a picture of all the data on a disc), not a DVD or CD data format as such, hence there are .ISO files that are 700Mb and would be CDs and 4.7Gb and those would be DVDs.

If you want to burn video files to a DVD for storage purposes you can do that easily with Nero "make a data CD" option. Nero also supports the "Burn DVD-Video" option that, I do believe, will do what you want, although I have not used it before.

Alternatively you can use software such as Cyberlink PowerProducer to make a DVD with stylish menus and such things, much the same as a DVD you buy from a shop. Which is what I use, as it was bundled with my DVD drive

hth.
