Yeah, I don't think I'll be using the one which came with the camera any more.

Will be needing a couple more lens now...

The focal length was 200mm (@f4), so I'd guess that he wasn't that far away.

I was sat about 8 feet from the bird feeder in our garden.

Some birds don't care if you are close and pointing a camera at them, most don't like you to be that close. That sparrow was more confident than her friends!

The lens has approx. 5x optical zoom at 200mm, in layman terms. Then I've cropped it by a factor of about 0.25.

The quality of the lens allows for a nice close-up result, by cropping, even without it being that powerfull.

May I ask what kind of telephoto lens you were using before this new one? I really enjoy photographing nature and found that after getting a longer lens I was really able to take some nice shots.

Here's to hoping for some more like the sparrow.

I didn't have a telephoto lens for this camera before, just a 18-55mm.

Not just a cow, a Jersey cow, highest cream production per gallon of milk, or was 35 years ago... She really brought back memories for me, only had one Jersey, the rest were Holstein monsters in comparison.... but she's pretty hefty, sure she's not a he? ":O}

It's a Jersey cow in Jersey, these are the original breed and the best examples apparently.

It is hefty, and I thought it was a bull at first. I'd suspect that it is one which is used for breeding, rather than milk. The udder is only small, and most dairy cows are nowhere near as bulky round the front legs.

You can see how small the udder is in this photo.
