Wow, thats insane, at first I thought you meant 3d panorama, but that is even more surrealistic. Let me know what you find. I'm sure it an extreme fisheye with some photoshop tweaks...

I don't think you need a fisheye lens or even a extra wide lens.

Just a case of using a 360 panorama which has been stitched together, then use polar co-ordinates distortion effect.

That makes sense.... I remember using polar in Photoshop. I never tried using it with a photo
