Ripping my DVD's legally?

I have been searching for a cheap or opensource program to help me rip my DVD's to the computer.
I'm still having problems. Even with trial versions of a few different programs won't let me do it.
There is always some security setting on the DVD prohibiting me from copying.

What is the best way to get all my DVD's to digital?

DVD Fab works great and is free.

Are you wanting to do a straight rip say to an ISO or folder, no conversion or shrinking?

For DVD's not BD, have a look for the old DVD Decrypter util, it is still around. That is about the best program out there for a simple rip, and it is free - it is at an .org.uk site v3.5.4.0.

I just want to watch my movies on my netbook and back them up on hard drive.
DVDfab seems to work pretty good but the watermark appears about every 5 minutes.
If there isn't another option, I may consider purchasing DVDfab.

Free, removes copy protection, rips DVD's to file or folder.
DVD Decrypter

VLC can play the iso as an actual disc.

Doesn't shrink or convert them.

Turns out DVDDecrypter is great!
Rips the whole DVD as an ISO and plays just like a DVD. It should support all the features of a DVD too... surround sound, special features, languages, scenes, etc.
The only downside is the ISO is usually 8 Gigabytes.
DVD Fab usually rips movies at 2 Gigabytes or so.
- I usually eliminate the special features and trailers.

So what I have been doing is ripping my favorite movies with DVD Decrypter and then using DVD Fab on the rest.
