HighPoint driver / BIOS version matching

I've downloaded the 1.22a drivers for the HP374 RAID controller, but don't know whether to use them or not? Highpoint recommend using matched driver and BIOS versions, but for onboard RAID the BIOS should be provided by the motherboard manufacturer as opposed to the one on the HighPoint site.

There's no HighPoint BIOS provided on the EPOX site. In the readme in the drivers it says:
Code:
2. Files Listing
=================
    Readme.txt This file
    BIOS
     \_ bios374.122 HPT374 controller BIOS
    Drivers Driver disk
     |_ win98_me Windows 98/ME driver
     |_ win_nt Windows NT 4.0 driver
     |_ win_2k Windows 2000 driver
     |_ win_xp Windows XP driver
     |_ disk1 Driver disk label
     \_ txtsetup.oem Windows NT/2k/XP setup file
there's actually no BIOS file in the driver archive, but the "bios374.122" listed is the same as the one provided on the HighPoint site.

even if that 1.22 BIOS can actually be used on the onboard 374, what do I do to update it? or should i just forget it and stick with the 1.21 drivers to match the 1.21 BIOS already in the onboard 374...?

thanks

Stick with the same drivers as are in your bios

cheers holst, thought that may be the case. no problem. i presume then that the PCI version would have a flashable BIOS chip, whereas the onboard versions just have it burned into the IC, yes?

Yep.

If your Highpoint is woking ok on the current drivers then its best not to mess.

If Epox think its worth updating the highpoint bios in the next update then they will.

ok, sound. well it's not working at all yet mate cos i'm only just about to set it up, but i figured if there was any driver/bios fiddling to be done then this would be the time to do it.

The 1.22.8.12 is posted on EPOX site

ftp://ftp.epox.com/motherboard/suppo...HPT374-gui.zip

I installed this driver when I first set up this 8k5a3+,disregarding the driver on the MOBO supplied disk. It's newer than supplied driver and also delivers great RAID performance.Try it:what can you loose except the time to install and if don't work, degrade to original?
