Where does the 8RDA+ stand w/ 3500 RAM?

Hey all,

I've finally ordered my 8RDA+ and a stick of 256MB XMS3500 Corsair DDR-RAM to go with it..

Any1 able to tell me whether I will experience any troubles with this?

So far - has anything been done or any solutions to the problems w/ Corsair running on the 8RDA+ ?

I just hope that any problems with Corsair RAM are ironed out with BIOS updates.. I don't want to have to RMA or exchange the RAM

The problem is that the SPD isn't a standard for 3500 or something? The SPD just tells the BIOS the memory timings, bandwidth ,etc.. (that right?).. So I guess that if I configure this myself in the BIOS , I shouldn't have any troubles.. ?

I'm also curious as to whether or not ppl think a BIOS update will come out from the good folks @ EPoX to fix this..

thanx for your help (if you help )

Hey Syner.... i have a stick of 512 3200 ram in mine... i dont think this mobo supports 3500 ram.... just to be safe id talk to the people at epox... but i would seriously recommend 2 sticks of 256 or 2 sticks of 128 (if thats what you want 256) cause the mother board can take advantage of the double stick... like elusion is getting wat 3000 banwidth with 2 sticks of 256 and im getting 1500 with one stick of 512 so.... it depends on you.

Well Syner it seems to be working good to me, maybe it could be better, but I've been beating on it pretty good. I have to keep the vdimm up to 2.9 if I want real performance.... waiting on a mod for it.
But here is what it can do.....

Ain't bad for an AMD system.............

10.5x232fsb 2-2-5-2 timings.

u peeps think EPoX will bring out a BIOS update to fix the problem w/ Corsair? If so - I'll get one stick of 256MB XMS3500 now, and another stick later...

I don't really know how much of a problem there is....... the only thing that's not right really is ya have to put 2.9( rated better than that- 2.8 is warranty limit) into it to get it to go......... wish I had more voltage, I'd use it.I'd like to see some competitors results tbo... that would be good. I'd like to see TwinMoss 3200 ( windbond bh-5 chips ) some geil, OCZ ( both 3500 series- not hand picked), then we would have a better idea whats up.

Corsair is RMAing it's ram and updating it to work with the Nivida chipset or replacing it with RAM that will.

Allright!!! My Corsair XMS3500CAS2 FINALLY arrived! Been waiting since last week. I'll see how things go tonight and I'll let you guys know if I have any problems. I doubt it though, I tend to get lucky with these kinds of things.

I've 2 sticks of 256 megs XMS3500 (DIMM1&3, DIMM2 didn't work) and can get FSB215 4-2-2-2.0 synch. I think, the right settings can solve any problem.
