Question Direct X Test not good on 8RDA+

Very satisfied so far with my 8RDA+, only issues encountered are:

1. DirectX (8.1) test: the moving block and spinning cube are stuttering - have yet to try games.

2. Had to reformat my HD and start with a clean install in following order - XP Pro - XP SP1 - Nvidia UDP 2.00 install (original supplied with disk did not work well).

3. Updating BIOS is a must for this board.

4. Had to give onboard LAN a MAC address before it would talk with my network.

Any observations on item 1 would be good or anything else.

JC

Well, these are my results.
1) All tests run smoothly on my setup, including the spinning cubes and all of the sound tests using the onboard soundcard.
2) I had to do a 'repair' of WinXP, reinstall SP1, and install the nvidia 2.0 drivers (then I re-installed the IDE driver back to the default nvidia driver).
3) With the new bios I was able to lower the multiplier on my 2400+ (so, yes, update the bios)
4) I just left the Machine MAC (NV) Address to 'disabled' and I can get to the internet and browse my LAN without any problems.

Epox 8rda+
Linksys 4-port router (cable modem Internet access)

Hope you can solve your issues.

@drummerjohn:

Is that unusual for a brand new board?! I'm preferring products that will be constantly improved!

How fast the cube is moving says nothing at all about the real D3D performance later

Maybe upgrading from a kt333 board to a kt400 board works well without reinstalling windows but changing to a completely new chipset like the nforce2 reinstalling is a must (imho). the drivers on the cd... well who cares about cds? is there a cd anyway? however, I always use the latet drivers downloaded from the web.

true but since you are in the situation that the bios is already there where's the problem? Several people like me had the board before the important bios came out which really was a prob.
