Best combo

I dont have this board yet so any input is appreciated.

As far as general performace goes whats the better combo here.

1) A 2400+ on an 8RDA+ with 2 sticks of Crucial 256meg 2100 mem in dual channel run sync at 266mhz.

2) 2 sticks Crucial 2700 128meg in dual channel async, cpu at 266, mem at 333mhz

3) 1 Stick of Corsair 256meg 3200 with cpu at 266, mem at 400

4) 2 Sticks of Corsair 256meg 3200 dual channel with cpu at 266, mem at 400

I could spend time looking this up i suppose but there is an expertise on this board I am seeking.

The fact that your fsb is at 133/266 for all of those settings means that the CPU will never take advantage of the higher memory speed .
Run the fsb WITH the memory by unlocking the CPU to get the extra performance

Running the memory and processor bus in sync is the best alternative you have. But seriously you should overclock the processor bus and lower the multiplier. If you have memory that can take 200 Mhz DDR then you should run your processor bus in sync with that as the processor bus won't be able to use the full memory bandwidth of even one of the two memory channels! My alternative would be like:

5) 2 Sticks of Corsair 256meg 3200 dual channel with cpu at 400, mem at 400

Since you're apparently aiming for a Thouroughbred cpu (XP2400+) then you should have no problem setting the multiplier to whatever you want as long as you're using the latest BIOS. Default is 15x but you should run the multiplier at 10x or higher as 10x200 = 2 GHz. The processor can be overclocked with little problem, just up the VCore a little, on a good rig with the right cooling and PSU you should be able to run 12x200 = 2.4 GHz no problem.

agree with above sentiments...

2 sticks, sync, not async...

Is there difficulties running a 2400+ at 333 FSB

Is anybody here actually running a 2400+ at 333X12 or 200X10 with stock cooling.

166/333 X12 gives you 2000mhz which is the rated speed of the XP2400+.
A tiny increase in Vcore may be needed but I doubt it .
The quality of the ram @ 166/333 is where I would be looking for problems .
Make sure you get some good ram

The same goes for hitting 200/400 . My ram is rated for 433 but it has some issues with the Nforce2 chipset .
I have OCZ EL PC3500.
I am running fsb 200 ram 160 . Not the best , but I am stable there .

The core frequency is still the same at those two settings. I assume you meant 166x12 and 200x10. As the core frequency is the same as when the processor is run at default settings there is no discernable difference in power. So whatever cooling is good for 133x15 is also good for 166x12 or 200x10.

your right I meant 166x12

I still would like input from 2400+ owners reguarding stabilty with a 166FSB.

I dont have a whole lot of time to test different set-ups, and would like a good percentage of success before I decide what components and setting to use..

Thanks so far, its getting more clear what to do.

Right now I am running stable with an XP2400+ @ 166 X 12.5 XMS 3200 memory @ DDR 400 MHz timings 6T 3t 3t 2.0 voltages @ defaults. Rock solid 24/7 stability

After I run it this way for a while I'll lower the cpu multiplier and start raising the FSB and run the mem sync.
