8RDA+ Questions

hi ive owned 2 epox motherboards so far 8KHA+ 8K3A+
and i have just ordered an 8RDA+ with a 2400+

firstly i have noticed quite a few people have corrupted theyr bios
on flash upgrade whilst this isnt a huge problem as i could allways hot flash (done it before for mistakes i have made)

there seems to be quite a few that have killed theyr bios
is it a certain revision of a flasher that is doing it eg do i need to make sure i use xxx version or magicflash

secondly does the bios at epox.org

Model: EP-8RDA+
BIOS: 8RDA2C10.BIN (0C00)

support unlocking of my soon to be 2400+

if so what multipliers am i looking at (13x/13.5x would be nice)


thirdly what do i need for full digital out
the ep-spd-650?
where does it plug in and such

The latest bios will automatically unlock your 2400+

I have not tried 13 or 13.5 multiplier because what I want is 200mhz FSB and so for me 13 and 13.5 is useless.

You will need to order a SPDIF backpanel from Epox and it cost about US$35 for digital out. There is no digital in.

you can use magic bios or winflash to flash your bios. However, make sure you running everything at stock speed when you do that.

I have went to the Epox USA sight and it has had what seems a major price reduction this is on the pdf form you get from the website EP-SPD650 fiber optic adaptor card /wcable New Reduced Price $18.00 I am gonna order me one of those with the cable included it's a steal!!

you wont have 13x - 15x without manually unlocking the cpu 12.5 is the max until 15x

Check Mwave.com, that's where I got mine. It's kind of hit and miss as they sell out so quickly.

afaik did the mobo makers stop delivering nforce2 boards atm (**** and epox), others even stopped the introduction (***, **).
they don't sell that fast... the shops simply don't get them any longer.

can't tell why but looking at the massive memory problems the nforce2 seems to have I think that's the reason.

Pleasure What massive memory problem would you be referring to my friend?????? My board doesn't have a memory issue I don't think it does seems to run really stable!!

Just look at the forum, the complaints, the fact that corsair rmas ram and announced a new version of its pc3500 ram.
Keep in mind that many memory modules, like mine for example, weren't compatible with the bios shipped.
Although the latest bios solved all my problems there must be something wrong if market proof memory isn't 100% compatible to a chipset.

I'm an it-professional working for business customers only. Because of this I'm in constant contact with wholesalers as well as some smaller shops. TechData, Ingram Micro (Macrotron) as well as the other shops all saying the same... they can't get their hands on nforce2 boards at the moment cause of none shipped.

I don't want to start rumors here but I'm only thinking about the facts.

You gotta remember that the JEDEC memory standary is only official upto pc2700. Everything that corsair and mushkin are doing is great but is not officially recognized as JEDEC approved. PC3200 and 3500 are made for the OC enthusist to push the envelope, and that is what you are doing. So dont blame the hardware if you must tweak a little more for stabilty.

Well then supply us with facts rather than opinions.
What proof do you have that any of this is true?

The EPoX Board has gotten only rave reviews. And yes they do sell out that fast, they are here then gone. Retailers are still taking orders from their customers are they not?

The issues, and their ARE difficulties in learning to set the new chip set up properly are pretty much resolved. We will be posting front page tomorrow on the Graphics card issue. I can see no reason for them to be withdrawn, certainly not memory.

"Extra ordinary claims, require extraordinary proof."

Failing to be able to meet demand seems far more likely than a withdrawal of the boards from the market place.

What kind of facts do you mean? Should I post mail conversations? Would you like to see your mails posted here? Don't think so and I doubt it would be allowed anyway.
Besides that I don't think my boss would be happy if I do so, even when they are in german which most people wouldn't understand.

I don't want to blame Epox or any other company since I'm satisfied with my board. I only post what I hear from two wholesalers and two smaller shops. Maybe my english isn't good enough to write in a way which doesn't sound less attacking, which I did not want to.

Oh and by the way sorry for breaking any rules. I read the rules but I doubt I understood them all. Just posted in a normal way... I thought. :/

A statement from a Retailer or wholesaler would give us a point from which we could start an investigation into this. If you cannot demonstrate any evidence I don't see the point of your post.

I see no problem with my own and yet I see some who have some small problems some with ram, some with hard drive issues such as myself at first! But overall with this being a new board release Epox should pat themselves on the back for it being so stable with so few problems this new into this product release!!! Epox my own thanks to you job well done!!!!!!!!

Hmmm...It would appear that Newegg.com has the EP-8RDA+ back in stock, for the third time. I guess that blows that theory out of the water...I'm just glad I got mine for $118. It's $132 now.

EDIT: Newegg.com also restocked two versions of a competitor's nForce2 board, which would also debunk the theory that nForce2 boards are being pulled. Actually, only one of them is back in stock, the other is in stock for the first time seeing it's all new and all.
