Jeff - I don't own one at this very second - my replacements are being couriered to me. I've snapped 3 this week now again. I think I actually may have a record for breaking the most of them but seen as I'm now using a Celeron in a Notebook - it shows that I just can't leave things alone !

After roughly eight hours of continuous load, via folding@home, I am happy to report that no crashes were experienced at 2.22V! I have just remove the Vcore hack and am testing again with the same config, except for the Vcore which is at the default. I'll let this run all night . . . . just to be all scientific and proper about this little experiment. My new hypothesis? . . . . Good question, I'm having trouble making since of the "facts" as we know them. I think that it is possible that this is caused by something other than all the other theories that have been presented to date. In any case, I hope that EPoX discovers the cause of the "problem" some seem to be experiencing, and resolves it through a BIOS update if possible, and if not through a new revision of the board or in the 8KHA2 . . . . One trend I have been noticing throughout several forums, is that a lot of the people who are running the 8KHA+ with an XP are also running a GF3, and many are running WindowsXP as well. More work needs to be done on isolating variables. I have done my part, others need to carry on from here. If all those concerned attack a small piece of the puzzle, each sharing what is learned, we should be able to get a better picture of what is going on.

I have to note, that I too experience random reboots in 98SE when my voltage exceeds 2.05volts. We can be quite certain that the OS whether XP,2000 or 98SE has little or no role in mine and Roadrunner rebooting issue. Paul.K

Hi guys, I've finally given up the ghost with this board and its Vcore mod. I just have to accept that this board will not allow a Vcore greater than 2.08volts. This is what I tried the weekend...... 1) I have everything out of my case, then I proceeded to do the Vcore mod (like yours dimmreaper) using 1/4watt resistors 200,220,238and 240Kohm values respectively. Soldiered the resistor directly to pin2 and earthed it off the motherboard clamping ring. But the board gave up the ghost at 2.09volts evening with a heatsink and chipset fan on the VREG chip. 2) I then tried different combinations of resistors with my AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz in place but it too had the same disappointing result. 3) Had a old 8Mb AGP sparkle GPU so I pleased that into my system instead but no go. 4) I even reformat and placed 98SE but still no go..... 5) Tweaked with bios changed memory etc..... Damn board it wont put out 2.2 volts Vcore.............. Thats the end of my testings.....looks like I'm getting the Abit KR7A ...................... Paul.K

I'm sorry to hear that your luck hasn't changed Paul, perhaps we are looking at different batches of the voltage regulator being able to supply different voltages to different degrees stability. It certainly isn't the motherboard's implementation of the regulator, I and a few others have established that. I wonder if EPoX selected a different voltage regulator for the 8KHA2. |

The onboard thermal diode reading looks good, however the board has only a 2 phase power supply ......... I'll probably wait and get the Abit KR7A......the beast of all motherboards.........

Sorry, only been to Manhatten once (great city with tons to eat, see, and do). I was on the top floor of the South Trade Center Tower at Windows on the World in April. Was a magnificent view that I'm glad I saw before it was destroyed. I can tell you there are hundreds of small electronic/computer shops in the city in addition to the big chain stores. You can probably find a good deal on almost anything.
