Any solution(s) to smoked GF4 problem?

Hello All,

I've got an MSI Geforce 4 Ti4200 that I want to use w/ my 8RDA+ but am a bit paranoid about the stories about smoked Geforce 4's here lately.

I will hopefully receive my 8RDA+ in the near future (c'mon newegg, get some in stock! ) and was wondering what I could do to avoid killing my GF4 - any ideas?

No one knows why this is happening.
The only advice I can give is that you boot up with a PCI card and flash to latest Bios release before using your GF4.

A friend of mine also built a rig based on 8RDA+ and GF4, he borrowed a PCI card and did just that.
His rig is running fine.

But then again, it might have done that with initial Bios too.

i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong, but i think its only the original bios that was sometimes frying GF4's... Mine survived okay, but if i were doing it again (and i am, as i fried my mobo and GF4 in an unrelated incident), i would put an old card in and flash to the latest bios before putting my GF4 in.

Thanks for the reply Caper - will grab a PCI card and flash to the newest BIOS when I get my 8RDA+.

Thanks for the reply and Happy Holidays!
