Question 8KHA+ & SB Audigy

System Specs:
XP2000+, 512 PC2100, PSU 431W

AGP = Radeon 8500 LE

PCI 1 = empty
PCI 2 = empty
PCI 3 = Soundblaster Audigy
PCI 4 = empty
PCI 6 = 3COM netcard

I used to use my onboard AC97 sound - but disabled that feature in bios when installed my Audigy. The Audigy card has destortion when playing all kinds of music, sound and so on. That's been a known problem for some while, and ought to be fixed when updating drivers - but it doesn't. I've done about everything explained at Soundblaster support site, but the only thing I have'nt done, and the thing I need help for, is to Windows XP to assign a NONE shared IRQ to my Audigy.
I've tried all different PCI slots, uninstalling everything, ESCD... - but WIN XP keeps assigning both Audigy and my 3COM netcard to IRQ 5. I've disabled all not nessecary options like serial ports and so on. There is about 5 IRQ's not in use - don't get it - why doesn't XP use these IRQ's - i know some is reserved - but 5 !!!
I need the Audigy to be assigned to a IRQ NOT SHARED with any other ressources - how does one do that? Do I need to reinstall?

Best regards from Denmark
