8RDA+ you guys are my last hope!

Hello guys,

I am new to this forum, but I am impressed by what I have seen so far. I hope you can help me. I have an 8RDA+ and am frustrated at what I am experiencing.

Not only can't the multipliers be adjusted, but this mobo will not boot at any FSB settings above the default.

So far I have tried using 2600/2100/1900 XPs

Corsair XMS 2700/Corsair XMS 3200/Crucial 2100 (tried different DIMM slots too).

Tried reseating the processors/changing out heatsinks/changing out Video Cards etc.

Yes, I tried both the BIOS that shipped with this board and the new BIOS (8RDA2C10) release directly from Epox.

Anyone have thoughts on this?

If you can give a complete description of the hardware you're running in your machine, I think we could be of more help.

Epox 8RDA+ with BIOS revision 8RDA2C10
2600 XP (default: 166*12.5)
Corsair XMS3200 C2
Antec True550 PSU
WD 30Gig HDD 7200rpm
generic floppy/CDR
Hercules Geforce 2 Ultra

I do have alternatives to all of the above mentioned components, but that is the setup I would like to end up with.

hmmm... are you in Aggressive or Optimal mode? change it to optimal

I have tried optimal/aggressive/turbo/expert...all to no avail

Let's start with the memory. I will presume you have the XMS2700 in the 8RDA+. Set it to expert and try the following timings:

Bank cycle time (or tRAS): 6
RAS Precharge (tRP): 3
RAS-to-CAS Delay (tRCD): 3
CAS Latency: 2

Give that a shot and see where that takes you.

If I'm not mistaken I believe I saw something about the latest Bios not being able to unlock CPU's with 12.5 and lower multipliers. I might be wrong I'll look around and see what I can find.

This is the thread I was reading that said with certain cpu's the multipiers couldn't be changed.

I have an 1800+ TBred. I can use all the multipliers... 12.5 and less.
