8RDA+..problems with Radeon 9700 drivers

Hi,

Got my new board yesterday...reinstalled windows and installed NVidia drivers and computed booted with no problems. Problems started when I downloaded the latest Radeon 9700 drivers...CAT 2.5. I rebooted and when I signed into windows I got blue screen or black screen....computer did not reboot just hung there. I removed the 2.5's and reinstalled 2.4 drivers which I was using before with no problems and got the same thing. Do you think flashing to a newer bios will help this?? Thanks in advance to all who reply. All spec's are listed in my sig....

Did you install SP1 for XP? Also the Cat 3.0 drivers are out now , but you must install directX 9 for those.

Flash Bios to new official 2c10

Install XP

Install XP SP1

Install Nvidia UDP 2.00

Install Dirext X 9

Install Radeon Catalyst 3.00

I have 8RDA+, Radeon 9700 with the above config and works like the dogs *******.

I installed the SP1 pack for XP and the NVidia drivers off the disk that came with the mobo (are these the same as UDP 2.00??) prior to downloading the Radeon drivers that are giving me my current problems.

I will install the 2C10 bios, Direct X 9 and the CAT 3.0 drivers later today...hope this helps. Thanks for the suggestions...will post results later.

Yeah, start again... right from the beginning.

Format, partition.

I setup a test partition to try updates etc before installing to my working partition.

The Nvidia UDP on CD (1.1 I think) did not work too well on my system.

After BIOS update check settings for memory, mine was set for optimal but was incorrect - showed my memory as CAS2 when I have CAS 2.5. Had to set memory timings to EXPERT and set manually.
