Installing windows on 8RDA+

ive just installed a Epox 8RDA+ and a new Maxtor 120GB HD
it seems to boot fine (detects Hard Drive/CD Rom/Floppy fine) into dos but when i try to boot the windows installation off the CD the system freezes at
"Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configuration ..."

it doesnt crash but just stops there for some odd reason, ive tried booting from different CD Drives, tried it installing winxp, 2k and even 98! (argh)
each time it stops while loading the installation.

any ideas what could be wrong? i seem to be the only one with this prob.

What is your bios setup like? Are you overclocked at all?

Hmm what are your temps like? Perhaps the Northbridge is getting too hot or something!?

How are your drives set up, as in master/slave combinations?

IDE1 = Maxtor 120GB
IDE2 = LiteOn 40x CD Writer

both as master not using any slaves

Ok thats simple enough then

It is pointing towards something in the bios though. Look for the H.D.D Smart capability option in the bios and try changing that option to whatever it isn't already on.

Failing that give us a run down of your exact bios settings on the Advanced setting page. Multiplier, FSB, memory timings etc.
