Well I have crystal lying around and I was thinking of putting it on the 8RDA+ NB?

What do you think guys, is it better then the stock cooler on the 8RDA+?

well the crystal orb of course performs better than the stock cooler.......the stock cooler uses a tim pad between the heatsink and chipset........"you could place a 50mm fan on top the stock heatsink......

I did take my stock cooler off and remove the tim pad and then use artic silver in it's place, but without the thick tim pad it was a litttle loose...........
By using my hand on the stock cooler it never seemed to get very warm.......I don't think it was absorbing the heat........

I did use the crystal orb, and yes the holes do not line up........I had to use artic silver adheasive.........and artic silver compound, and was able to make good contact with the chipset........

I don't think that there is an aftermarket chipset cooler that will fit correctly with the stock hole placement on the motherboard.

I can't think of any reason that I would ever need to remove the chipset cooler......."I can still replace the fan if needed"

any questions, let me know........

search the board because there is a thread somewhere about using Titan chipset coolers or Crystal orbs. What u need is the longest bracket from a Titan cos that fits, I think it just needs a slight bend to fit the Crystal orb.

The Vantec Iceberg fits perfectly on the northbridge and southbridge chips. I have 2 copper versions, though active cooling the southbridge seems to be a overkill.

I just took some mini plastic ties and put one through the bottom of the MB with a plastic washer and one cut off on the top of the orb just to hold each side down tight. Works fine and easily cuts to remove if necesary.
