8K3A and xp2600 can use 333 fsb?

Hi,

I have the Epox-8K3A running with 512MB Corsair XMSPC3000 DDR presently using an xp2000 and will be upgrading to the xp2600.

My question is in regards that for the same price I can get the xp2600 in 266fsb or 333fsb flavor, I also was told by my vendor that I cant run the 333FSB version, yet I have read reviews that used the 333fsb version on my board???,

I could use some help with this one as the 333fsb version is easy to get and the 266 is hard to find.

Any and all coments welcomed please.

Paul

Look at Catatonic's post in the thread, it would seem that his 333 model did not need any modding to use and has all the low multis available.

Yes the 8K3A+ will work with the 2600+ at a 333Mhz bus without any problems.

Had mine that way for a while before I upgraded to an 8RDA+!

Air cooled or Vapo Cooled the 2600+ has no problems on that board.

Air cooled she averaged around 38 deg (idle) and 42(load) c at default voltage (1.65 for mine). Air cooled with Delta80/Thermalright SLK800.

Vapo Premium set to max, the 2600+ at default speed and Voltage averages -22c on the 8K3A+ (with the bios tweaks {WCP Edit and WCP Set... can't remember the names of them) she maintained a -26c idle, -22c at load).

8RDA+ is better, but I do miss the extra IDE controllers.

cpu

YES. the 8K3A+ can run 166fsb very easily and extreemly stabily.
Just make sure you have a recent enough bios version that recognises the XP2600+ cpu and get the 166fsb version.

Thanks evryone!

Any special settings recommended?

Looking for speed and stability.

I use the Alpha PAL8045 HTS + quiet 80x80mm 50cfm fan for the cpu.

Thank You.
