| Yeah, the nVidia IDE drivers are broken, they would not allow me to burn CD's and I had to go back to the native XP IDE drivers. The other drivers are fine however, and include drivers not only for the sound but the memory controller, NIC, USB, etc. and are a must.

| There is nothing wrong with the Nvidia UDP 2.0. There is a bug in the automatic UDP installation. You have to re-install the IDE/ATAPI controller driver. When updating driver click on "I will choose(advanced)" - you should then see a small list - one of which is Nvidia Nforce MCP2 IDE controller. Install that and your HD's will stop being SCSI and you will options back for Primary & Secondary channels. If you don't do this you will get disk corruptions and page faults, I know as it has happened to me. I have run 4 OS's using the Nvidia drivers without any problems or slowdown in boot up. And why on earth would you not want to use the fantastic on board sound? Have you heard Unreal Tournament 2003 through it?

I will try this and post if I can now burn CD's with them. Everything else seemed fine with these drivers and they were a little faster in Sandra file system benchmarks as well as HDTach. Would be nice to get them to work with everything.

| Installed the nVidia MCP IDE drivers by using device manager and updating the Standard Dual IDE Controller by navigating to the folder where I extracted the nVidia 2.00 drivers. drummerjohn is right, they will work if installed this way and I am now able to burn CD's with them installed. Bootup and Sandra/HDTach benchmarks remain about the same however, but at least they work.
