Broken sound on 8RDA+

My onboard sound goes all scratchy and horrible intermittently while i am playin cs , sometimes it goes away , sometimes it doesn't.Its all scratchy most of the time though. Is there any way to fix this ?
I hope so cause i don't want to have to buy a sound card , plus I have no pci cards atm and I'd like to keep it that way

I have the same problem....except it usually involves me being on Teamspeak and playing a game. After maybe 20 minutes, the sound will get all borked and really scratchy. =|

Teamspeak works 4 me but not BattleCom. I get scrachy sound from battlecom after a while, but not from the game...
I found out that not useing 3dhardware(EAX) sound fixes it atleast in UT2003 and AmericasArmy...
The scrachy sounds like a robotic chopped sound...
(DX8.1 and GF4Ti4200 in D3D)

Same here

I had this problem in CS as well. Ended up fitting the santa cruz card from my 'old' PC. Has solved the problem, but would be interested if anyone knows a fix to get the onboard sound working.

Yes, the vast majority are quite happy with it.

Thanks Epox Tech

"Some customers have reported sound stuttering when using a parallel port ZIP drive. The workaround is to set the parallel port mode to ECP in the BIOS. Thanks go to JCarr of AMDforums.com for finding a solution to this issue."

I have currently got the parrell port disabled , shoud I re-enable it and change its mode ?
Thanks for the help

I dont use my LPT port (I even disabled it) so it cant be that 4 me anyway.
Funny thing is that I cant get rid of it when the game is running and I restart the battlecom proggy. But if I quit the game and restart Battlecom its ok again... go figure...
Also I noticed that one time I ignored it and all of the sudden it was ok 4 a while...
I donīt know if this could be an 200MHz FSB issue since I am running at that speed but I dont think so... every thing else works great

I had some sound distortion after running at high FSB for long periods.

See if you get the same problem at stock speeds.

Lol corn, its the exact same for me. All I have to do is quit the game and restart TS and it goes back to normal. I'll probably just slap my Santa Cruz back in there and go with that I think....oh well, it happens. No big deal.

hmm maybe U R right Holst it could be a temp problem since it works 4 a while(20min) and then gets screwed up...

oh and seems to happen only when I run with 3dhardware sound enabled...
Actually the MCP-T gets pretty hot... I would say 55-60 C. Maybe if I slapped a small HS it would work :P

Wait...your SB gets really hot too Corn? Hrm....maybe we just got unlucky like that....because my SB is pretty hot compared to my NB, or even my heatsink thats on my 1800. Both of those are much cooler than my SB. I may just get a cooler for it someday and then see if it still keeps corrupting.

One thing though.....I thought the higher FSB you ran, the hotter the northbridge got, which is why a lot of you slapped active coolers on it. Does upping the FSB affect the SB too? Mine was hot when I was running default anyway, but I'm just curious.

Well I dont know if the higher FSB makes the SB run hotter other than that there is more heat productions in the case that makes the the SB get worse cooling so I figured if that is indeed the problem then a small pentium class HS would be enuff...
