Help my rear speakers won't work...

I just got an 8rda+ and use logitech z-560 4.1 speakers. I read the book and they just don't work . They have to connectors for the plugs, a green one and a black one. Which should they go into? Green and pink? I read the manual and have it setup to use 4 speakers, but no sound just static.

The green and blue jacks are front and rear channels respectivly. Use the n-force control panel to set the speakers up using the wizard. Pink is the center subwoofer.

I would have thought that you could use one input for a 4.1 set in digital. Two of my speakers and sub are digital.

nucl3arboNg,

you need to put the bong down for a minute

go into the nvidia control panel, go to speaker setup, and setup your speakers

It walks you though and tells you wich speakers to plug in where.

During this procedure you also select wich outputs should be designated as a analog out v analog in v digital out.

It's described in your manual as well.

I recomondend you look in there yesterday, but apperantly you chose not to head the advice to do your own research.

It's one thing to not know something technical, it's another to ask questions about something that's clearly described in the manual.

I disagree with Sotti. There are some issues with the onboard sound for certain speaker configurations, as I have been finding out.

The problem Spamz0r is having (no not holding a bong) may be solved be selecting stereo mix under mic in as shown in the pic (under main tab for nVidia properties).

The problem I am having is also in the pick. I am playing a DivX ;D movie here and the bass on my Audigy connected to my digital sound works (in analogue mode) was phenominal. Feel it blow air onto you shin.

The nVidia properties shows that there is no bass signal even though I have configured it to suit my speakers as best as it will allow. The bass signal is "hidden" on my front and rear channel and is not being past to the pink output as it should. I passed a lead from the "bass" output on my analogue speakers to the second input on my digtial soundworks speakers and could get a faint responce from the bass when I isolated the bass sounds.

The bass is not being passed from the pink output (mic) & subwoofer/center channel as illustrated in the screenshot. Note I do not have a center channel. I think this is a software problem. I don't think its worth it but I could test the audigy in this system to verify the bass is working.

Edit: Pic is in last post.

Damn - u lot are funny - sorry BUT the soundstorm outputs 6 channels. There are no issues - only issues of people incorrectly setting them up.

Enabling six channel speakers will only allow a true six channel signal to be passed to the 6 speakers - ie 5.1 Doldy Digital audio on a DVD disc.

What you have to do is tick the "create center channel" & "create LFE channel" to convert a stereo input (2channel - which is 90% of games and music) into a six channel output.

Most 4.1 speaker packages that I have seen are not true 4.1!!!

The .1 as in 5.1 is a Low Frequency Effects channel. Many DVD's have it and very few games. The 4.1 speaker packages I have seen take the 4 channels (Front/r, Front/l, Rear/r. Rear/l) and try to falsely reproduce this just by boosting lower frequencys through the sub. It doesnt work. If you hear a true 5.1 compared to a 4.1 you will immaediately hear the difference.

MASTER AT ARMS:
Tick "create LFE channel" and set the volume and cut-off freq.
If your speaker system really has a .1 or LFE input it will work.

NUCLEARBONG:
Calm down and read the manual and listen to what others say.
Green and Blue jacks are outputs if you have switched them on as in MASTER AT ARMS has. Green is front - Blue is rear. The Z-560 does not have a .1 or LFE input so you will not benefit from DVD's and what the Soundstorm can output.

SPAMZOR:
Again - it appears the Z-640 does not have a .1 or LFE input - the website is not clear on that matter.

Cool - you da man! The base works when I emphasised it. Also the LFE channel and the slider combo changes how much (or what cross over frequency) base the woofer handles vs speaker (I guess). The digital sound works is a 2.1 speaker system and responds to the LFE channel.

The woofer output displayed does show an output know (due to enabling the LFE channel. Guess I'll keep the soundstorm and not put the audigy back in!

Yes I can create a center channel (comes out of rear right). I find ticking rear phase shift makes the sound easier on the ear too. Everything tick but the two dolby boxes.

Those premix levels help with emphasising the base over the rear channel.

You are quite right - the manual isn't the clearest in the world. In fact I'm not sure if anyone has made a decent manual.

MASTER AT ARMS:
No - I don't use my mic input for a microphone if that's what you mean.
