Talking 8K5A2+ memory tweaks

Other than the well know memory tweaks of 2/2/5/2/1T with 4-way interleave enabled, are they any others worth changing for better performance?

I've never really messed around with these settings before:

DRAM Burst Length
DRAM Queue Depth
DCLKI Timing
DCLKO Timing
Fast R-W Turn Around
Continuous DRAM Request
Write Recovery Time

On the video side, what about the "AGP Driving Value" bio setting. Anyone tweak this one, and what did you gain by doing so?

And one last question. Does anyone use H-oda's WPCRSET with their 8K5A2+ using the 2B01 bios? If so, what do you use it for?

Does anyone use the 8K5A2 series motherboards anymore?

Might as well change the name of this place to "Epox 8RDA+ Motherboards."

I'm on the same mobo. If you are going for FSB speeds over 166Mhz run the timings at 2-2-6-2. The 5 gets you almost 0 performance gain but will cause you a lot of problems. It causes insatbility and HDD corruption.

Try wpcredit hacks

48=38
55=84
6A=FF
6B=F0
93=FF
94=5F
96=F9
PCI
70=A0
71=48
Cooling
92=E9

To cooling hack will take down your cpu temp ~20F

Mrspec3: Do you have any comparision of before and after these tweaks?

I'll try them later on my 8k3a+ (at least some of them). Just can't right now (uploading and download stuff) .

Thanks for the tweaks!

Sorry for these rookie questions, but I need to know:

1. Where can I downloade wpcredit?
2. Once I install it, how do I make the adjustments you recommend?
3. Could you please explain, from top to bottom, what each setting does?

You can download both wpcredit and set from here http://www.aoaforums.com/forum/files.php?dir=174

What you do is take WPCRedit and make the changes. Then you test out your system to make sure it is still stable. Once you know it is all ok you use wpcrset to make the changes load everytime windows does.

http://members.rogers.com/mrspec3/wpcr.JPG

This is a screen shot of wpcredit. I hi-lighted 2 of the places were you will want to change settings. You select the register in the top section (the hex's run left to right increasing in size).

You will click on a register...take 6A for example. Then you go to the place where I said change here and change that to FF. Then click the set button on the right. Once done do some mem benchmarks and see how it is.

As for what each change does I'm not sure. I don't have the data sheet for the KT333 chipset so it's hard to know. I do know however that all of these are tested and all work.

Ask if you need anymore help

Steve

Hey Mrspec3: I think you might be interested in this then:
http://www.mods4me.com/images/kt266/kt266.zip

It's .PCR files for WPCREDIT for KT266A (and 333).

Try it!

Err, you know I'm talking about a partially transcripted datasheet for WPCREDIT right?

This way you can see what you are changing. I myself always do the changes myself (I just don't simply read someone's tweaks and just type them there without knowing what I'm doing).
