Smile Anyone Using or tested The Kingston Hyperx with 8RDA+?

I'm just curios.. I've ordered the Kingston HyperX modules.. 2 x 256 Mb of RAM..

I have had problems with Corsair for over a month now so i figured it's time to move on to another brand!

I would go with Twinmos but I live in Finland and it's very hard to find here.. I thinks it's impossible to find..

Regards,

Toby

Have a Beer & A Pizza

*I've tested the Kingston Hyper X with a 2400/8RDA...and as U've found out with the cors_hair...this board takes a ton of time and patience to get it to run the way 'U' want it to run...I did not have the same success with the Hyper X as I have had with the cors_hair...which btw...I don't care for either...The Hyper X would not run at any faster FSB than 190...whereas I've had the cors_hair over 225...

*The runs made with the Hyper X were done by another driver over a 4hr time period...which did not allow for nearly the time necessary to tweak all the possible combinations that need to be tested to run the memory at it's best settings...

I have since retired from the oc scene...although I still love to read the forums...and have found that "MY" system runs best at...10x205/3*2*2*2...with the cors_hair...I'm not gonna spend anymore time or ca$h on this system...

**I would suggest that U speak with muzz...(sic)...as he seems to have a handle on the fast setuP with the combination that he runs...(k muzz...U owe me one now)...Much Success with Ur system!

**It should be noted that both muzz and I have totally hosed this board

Angry Darn..

Thanks for your post!

Oukey.. that's good to know..
I too have been fighting with this mobos memory compability.. check out this post .. still I haven't tried updating the bios to an older one.. maybe I should give Corsair ONE more shot.. though I need to get hold some PC2100-2700 memory to get my computer to post before updating

MB+memory compability= makes me go nuts..

Regards,

Toby

I did read Ur other post...I can't speak to the bios uPdate as I don't have the plus (+) model and the bios uPdates are very limited for the non plus board that I do have...although...I am running what I know to be the latest bios for the board that I have...U do have to understand a few things doing this oc mess...

At some point U do hit the wall...the point of deminishing/no returns...there is a point at which...that's all there is...ain't no more...and...U don't 'HOT ROD' Ur grocery getter...If U have other systems...carry on...If not...set it...and forget it...

btw...the 'spare' bios chip is good insurance!

Lightbulb Well..

You speak like a man with a lot of experience...

The only thing is.. if I only I could get as far as the OC thing comes.. I just been struggling with the damn memorymodules all the time.. I've even considered going with Intels Hyperthreading Mobos.. but when your'e a fanatic AMD fan then you are one..

Tomorrow I'm going to flash to an older bios to try and see if the TwinX memorymodules can wake my computer up.. if not.. well.. then I'm in for a lot of thinking.. again..

Have RMA:d the Corsair memorymodules too many times allready and the local dealer where I bought the memories from are starting to get annoyed.. well I don't blame them..

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for the bios update to work..

Regards,

Toby

Smile Oujee..

I just canceled the HyperX memory order..

I borrow a stick of PC2100 from my work.. rig it in my mobo and voilá the computer boots.. so i then reflash back to the 3117 bios and take out the PC2100 RAM and insert my Corsair XMS PC3200 TwinX modules in dualmode..

Well what can I say.. just run succesfully through 3Dmark2001 with FSB set to 200 and multiplier set to 10.5 and scored allmost 16000 points..

Well the next part is probably going to be the VDD mod with SMD grabbers..

So I won't be needing Kingston..

I'm feeling very satisfied..

Best Regards,

-Toby

I bought two 256MB sticks of the PC3500 Hyper X a couple weeks ago from newegg for $89 each. I just got my 8RDA+, so I haven't had a chance to really beat on mine yet. I've got it running at 180MHz FSB sync right now at CAS2 and 5-2-2 timings. I'll give it a try async tonight and see what it's capable of.

Smile

Now running rock solid on 215 x 10.. at 5-2-2-2 dual mode!

Memtest86 went through without a glitch.. no errors or whatsoever..

3DMark2001 Demo mode was running for 2 h.. stable

VDD at 1.8 V , memory at 2.9 V in dual mode.. I'm not sure if 2.9V is abit high for the mem.. Risky business..

Well, running sync with the HyperX, I can't get over 192MHz FSB stable. Timings are at 4-2-2 CAS2.

I keep getting the "IRQ not less or equal to" or some such error, followed by a memory dump.

I gather it's happening because of NB/SB instability and/or voltage regulation at that FSB because I can run it async quite a ways beyond it's rated speed of DDR434 at the rated timings with just a little bump in the memory voltage.
