8RDA+ with OCZ PC3500/3700???

Currently build a new PC (read sig), hoping to clear 200FSB and run RAM in sync.

I know everyone raves on about Corsair, but the OCZ sticks always out perform them in the group tests, hence why I want OCZ.

I just wanna know how other people have got on with them on EPOX boards???

We havent seen OCZ doing any better than corsair, even the supposed 3500 or 3700 stuff.

People with Twinmos/Winbond tend to do just as good somethimes better with much cheaper ram.

I've got OCZ 3500 512MB. I'm dissapionted, because i can only get it to run at 208 MHz (maximum stable fsb) with timings cl2, 7,3,3.
It's now running at cl2,6,3,3 and 2.9V but i don't know if it's really stable.

8RDA+ running at 210 x 10.5 all day and night at 100% clock cycles with corsair. I've been bitten by "the other guys" waaaaaaaaay too many times. Here it is:

It seems the general sensus is that the Corsair is better with this mobo. I've just read most of the reviews for the RAM again, they were all test on KT400 boards!

Planning to use a 8RDA+, 2 512smeg sticks of PC3500, with a XP2700 (of higher if the prices drop some more).

It's only a little project PC to keep me busy (and outta the pubs!) so there's no rush to build it. Was hoping EPOX would release the 8RDA3 by now, but I can't wait forever. The 8RDA+ is only £100ish anyway, so no major loss. Will prob donate it to a needy mate when the time comes!

Corsair = Solid, no doubt about it.

I just put them in this new system as of yesterday, did burn in last night. I'm at work now but get to start seriously playing this weekend.

Before, I had them in Asus A7N8X Deluxe set-up and that system topped out around 192-195 FSB. Heard the Epox was a better board for the buck so I picked one up to try it out. I'll definitely be posting what I find out tonight and tomorrow.

I have OCZ PC3700 niow and it's good, really good.
Only one 256MB stick, but hey...it runs DDR466(async) CAS 2-6-3-3 ? It does, so I have nothing to complain about.

Of course i'm using a 8RDA+
It's running 24/24 on seti@home. This weekend i'll put some heatsinks on the relevant chips and see if it brings some more MHz.
Voltage mod is allready done, running at 1,79V. (before that it was around 1,58V and 166MHz max FSB)

I think I'll opt for the Corsair then - even tho they don't hit such tight timings as the OCZ's seem to.

One more thing, "async", obviously different to "sync", but what does it mean??? (Having a thick day!)

Cheers

"async" is not on the same frequency as the FSB. On the Nforce2 the best results are on "sync" mode. That's why it is so important to get the FSB speed up to 200+ MHz.

And then someone throws a spanner in the works!

Price for OCZ & Corsair PC3500 are about the same from what I've seen. I was originally going to buy 2 512mb sticks, but do you think thats a little bit over-kill (it's gunna be a pure gaming machine). I'm now thinking 2 256mb sticks would be better, perhaps the new Corsair TwinX stuff. What ya reckon???

2 x 256 would be plenty. As far as matched modules, I really don't know if that's worth more or not. One good thing is they are pre tested together so that's a plus.

I agree with UB 2X256 is more than enough ...

As far as matched modules go, I wouldn't worry one bit as long as you don't use your timmings by SPD which nobody does with this board and premium ram
