Smile 8rga+

Hi,

I've ordered this board- the features impressed me. If anybody here could share his expiriences with this mobo, this would be very helpful.

1. If you had 8RDA+ before, do you have benchmark comparisons? Coz i found and article, where 8RGA+ BLOWS AWAY the 8RDA+ in DIVX and Winace compressing ( tested 3 times ). In most other benches it leads also. I wonder, if this is only optimized bios, what else could it be?

2. Why are the MOSFETs so small - is it really the less power-need due to the additional 12V connector? Or is it just some new MOSFET technology?

3. Did you notice more stability when overclocking as a result from this 12V connector? Are your voltages more stable?

4. Is Vdd adjustment save now ( if NB is cooled good ), or should we still not run 2V- i mean, the setting wouldn't make sense else...

5. How is the SB heatsink mounted - can it be removed easily? I see holes around the SB, so i'd like to use my Zalman passive cooler.

I hope some Epox gurus can enlighten me, thx!

In about 6 weeks I'll be getting another NForce 2 board to replace my 1 remaining MSI 745 Ultra. The 8RGA+ is on the short list

strange that we always get us the same boards, hehe, but always great ones

I only hope it can do 200mhz @ stock vdd, so that we can push it further.

Toxicblue: Do you think you could shorten your sig so it's a bit more like mine?

It takes up more space than your posts

I wouldn't say we meet up on all "great" forums. OCWorkbench just banned me and I'll never return to that silly censorship site!

Ive got one and it does seem a bit better than my 8rda which was a rev 1.0 board. I manged to hit 200x10.5 no problem at the default of 1.6vdd, I havent tried much oc'ing with it yet but it does seem good, at 1.8 i managed to get 210fsb no problem also. Im waiting for my new ocz pc3700 to arrive in replacement for the 3500 so ill give it a go after that

optimistations made to the IGP northbridge, nvidia have been working hard to get this right.

2. Why are the MOSFETs so small - is it really the less power-need due to the additional 12V connector? Or is it just some new MOSFET technology?

not all that new, just different.

3. Did you notice more stability when overclocking as a result from this 12V connector? Are your voltages more stable?

Id expect them to be, providing your PSU is good in the 12v line.

4. Is Vdd adjustment save now ( if NB is cooled good ), or should we still not run 2V- i mean, the setting wouldn't make sense else...

2v may still be dangerous, run as low as you can.

5. How is the SB heatsink mounted - can it be removed easily? I see holes around the SB, so i'd like to use my Zalman passive cooler.

Stuck on with tape I think there are holes to fit an aftermarket cooler.

I hope some Epox gurus can enlighten me, thx!

I havent spent any time overclocking this board as ive been buisy
(plus ET sold em all so there isnt a spare for me to overclock/break)

Ill post on threads that I want to, and im under no obligation to post at all.

Asking "why wont ET answer me" will generally annoy me and make me not want to.

if you do have a serious problem then you can email your local branch office.

Bradmax, do you have that OCZ 3700 yet? Cause I was thinking of getting that mobo/ram combo. Does anyone know if i'll get more out of the 3700 than my Corsair 3200? Also please let me know if you can run it at full speed at 6,2,2,2.0. (Cas 2.0 is what I really want to know)

The enermax PSU will be ideal for your new board as it has a very strong 12volt line.
