On boot loose my mouse and keyboard

Setting up my new 8RGA+ (painful!!) On every second boot I loose my keyboard and mouse. Sequence is:

Boot - they both work fine
Re-Boot - neither work
Re-set - work fine
Re-boot - neither work
Re-set - and on, and on, and on.

Tried two fresh reinstalls of XP, got the latest drivers and Bios, happens with CPU running cold first thing, and warm.

Anyone got any ideas, this is driving me bonkers?

I was going to say that it could be the southbridge overheating but you said it does it from cold as well. Is it a USB mouse and keyboard? I would check the IRQ to see if its sharing and maybe try enabling 'reset configuration data'.

I loose my mouse when I overclock too much. Anything over 195fsb and no mouse. So I plug in an old generic ps2 mouse and when it's done booting I plug back in my ps2 marble mouse.
