Trying to reach 2.4GHZ with 2400+ and 8rda+

Hey everybody

So heres whats up. 2.3ghz 11.5x200 with 1.90 Vcore. Im trying to reach 2.4ghz 12x200 with 1.95 vcore. When i boot into windows xp under "Optimal" CPU interface, It does an immediate reboot before it gets to the windows screen and scrolling bar. If i set CPU interface to Agressive, windows boots, but sits at the scrooling bar forever. System does not freeze as the scrolling bar continues forever.... and ever.....

Anybody got any ideas to help me with? Im currently trying to battle MOFSET heat but trying to get a jump on this problem =P

the first thing is to drop the fsb and raise the multi to make sure the CPU is capable, and that you arent just running out of headroom with the fsb. If you are maxxing out the fsb, then vcore adjustments will do no good at all.
this ia as far as my XP 2400+ will go with 1.95 vcore - it will do a bit higher with 2.1 (2.5GHz), but the Idle temp is 49C using a coolermaster HCC-001 (Heatpipes).

remember the tbred cores were designed for 1.65v.........going past 1.85, imo, will shorten the life of any cpu by a fair bit.

@flymo

my 2400+ works now on 13*166=2170 with vcore=1.65
i use cpuidle to lower temperature (40/41 deg on 99% idle) - but i have 54-57 deg on full power (ut2003)
with 13.5*166 i got ~60 deg on full power - this is too much for me.
i have a hhc-L61 heatpipe (coolermaster, 3000rpm) and 3 case fans on ~1000 rpm (low noise).
Board is an epox 8k9a3+

What's the stepping of your CPU? The AIUCB is not the best overclocker in every case. I've struggles to reach above 2300MHz, and am up over 19V to do so. I totally agree with Flymo that your most likely pushing your FSB too high for overclocking. When I'm trying to benchmark bandwidth (memory) I'll push the FSB to 200 and above, HOWEVER; take advantage of the stability offered in your dividers 3:2:1 or 5:2:1 and use the multiplier to attain high clockspeeds. There are just too many potential instability problems which occur at such high FSB speeds. You'll undoudbtedly push your CPU much higher taking advantage of the stability which dividers were designed to ensure. Keep the FSB at 166, and rasie the Vcore and multiplier concurrently.
