Which Via 4in1 for 8k5a3+?

Well on Epox homepage it list the VIA Chipset Software (4-in-1) v4.42 as the one for my board. This seems a tad old and I was wondering if the Hyperion line does nothing for this board.

Reason I am asking is I have some sound and video issues in games like Age of Mythology and Freelancer (Microsoft titles huh ). Both play well but the cut scenes have video issues in AoM and sound issues in Freelancer.

I have tried several detonator drivers but same problem no matter what I use.

4.42's are the ones, unless...

you are running an ATI Radeon, then you might want to go with 4.43, since I hear that they run the best with the ATI cards.

I have used both on my rig, and frankly, I cannot tell any real difference. But, I was running the 4.42's with the APIC turned off. I now have it on and run the 4.43s.

KT 333 chipsets seem to do best with 4.43. I have tried 4.45 which were optimized for the KT400 and 8x AGP. They caused a performance drop off on my KT333 chipset. Via has just released 4.46 drivers which will probably be optimized for the KT400A chipset. I will stick with my 4.43 drivers until I hear from others that the 4.46's are better.

Keep in mind that the ...

8K5A3+ is actually a KT333CE chipset, which uses the standard KT333 NB but uses the 8235 SB, which is the same as KT400. Bottom line, though, is that either 4.42 or 4.43 seems to perform better than the 4.45s do, at least here.

Try Hyperion 4in1 v4.46 driver. AGP-driver has been updated.
