Question ET - 8RDA+ 400FSB Bartons support, official statement?

I would like to hear what EPoX is saying about support of new 400MHz FSB Bartons in nForce2 based boards.

At present the maximum official supported FSB on 8RDA+ and 8RGA+ is 333.

I really don't think epox is going to change the official specs of a board they've already been selling, even if it was able to handle 200mhz fsb speed out of the box every time.

hiya, well why did epox release the new bios with a 200mhz option in the bios?

if the option is there in the bios then surely the board full supports it, and if it supports it theres no reason why it can't be advertised now with 400mhz fsb support.

just my opinion like.

What, so they should have stopped at 166 Mhz FSB because that's what's officially supported?

EPoX is a company that has put out great boards for overclockers, I think you should be grateful for the option to crank up the fsb rather than complain about it. Not all boards will do 200+, but the option is there if you would get lucky and get a board that does.

well its not that great for overclockers because if it was that great you wouldn't have to do loads of mods on the board and have to but extra cooling for its chipset, and so on, plus its got an extremly sensative bios.

alls i was saying is if there is a 200mhz option there now then theres no reason i see why they couldn't advertise it now maybe in a new version, if a new revision was brought out.

Thats a bit of a silly argument.

There are lots of options in the bios that may or may not work...

As I said, the max supported fsb is 333.
I wont be saying this again.

Heh, like my **** KT133 (non-A) based board provided options for 150MHz FSB? The thing couldn't manage over 105MHz, never mind 150MHz.

Just because an option is in the BIOS does not mean the board officially supports it. You may be lucky and find that your system (as a whole), will run fine at 200+MHz. Or, you may be unlucky and find although an option exists, your system cannot do it. EPoX ensure the board will do 333MHz data rate with the correctly rated CPU. Anything extra on top of that is a bonus

Additionally, the 400MHz data rate chips may have different bus drivers to the existing 333MHz chips. This could extend the capabilities of the system further.

In the meantime, our friendly EPoX engineers have stated quite clearly what the maximum supported FSB rate is. Trying to push them into declaring otherwise for your own motives is not a wise move.

Well, I was asking for statement on support of 400MHZ FSB Bartons, not what max FSB is supported, Áedán. From what you've written the answer is NO, but I would like to hear some Epox guy.

How can epox ever make a statement that 8RxA+ will support 200fsb, when without modding they can't do 200fsb?

I can"t even do 200 with all the mods ! The boards are not consistent.

Holst is an EPoX guy. Max supported 333MHz FSB means no offical support for 400MHz.

I can confirm that 8RDA3+ will have official support for 400fsb should such a product be released by AMD.
