Bios temp shutdown not working

The temperature shutdown feature in the bios does not appear to work, which is quite worrying.

The following thread brought the matter to my attention:

Temp shutdown thread

In this thread it states that ACPI within the OS could be to blame, but whatever the cause how can I be sure that the temp shutdown feature in the bios is operating correctly?

Do I have to disable ACPI and select "no" to plug and play OS in the bios?

I'm running Win ME.

Thanks for your help.

I'll run a check on this spirits247 - I don't think its sames as ASUS's A7V266e KT266a diode issue by all means though.

Thanks EpoxTech!

Any news or opinions on this from others?

Does anyone disable ACPI and PnP OS and allow the bios to control power/resource settings?

I cant get my CPU upto 50*c to test it.

when i accidentally ran it without a fan it crashed with MM5 reading 45*c and i got no temperature warnings.

It was my own stupid fault that i ran without a fan as i was using a 120mm on a rheostat and it was turned down too far and the fan couldnt start.

Ive since replaced the rheopstat with a fan controller that i made using this article
http://bit-tech.net/article/51
Although i no longer use a 120mm fan on my CPU as they have been commisioned for watercooling.

I know that Epox are dealing with the soft reset problem and the UDMA on channel 2 looking at their beta bios releases.

But what about this temp issue?

Can anyone answer the questions I've posted above?

Thankyou for your time, as always!
