Question On 8RDA+ what MHz will an XP2000+ with a 512MB of PC3200 TwinMos Dimm reach stably?

On 8RDA+ what MHz is an XP2000+ with a 512MB of PC3200 TwinMos Dimm likely to reach stably?

I'm considering a Vantec AeroFlow VA4-C7040 cooling fan which was measured to keep an XP2200+ CPU running @ a settled temp of 38 degrees Celcius whilst running 3DMark2001; at factory settings of course (not O.C.).

I am given the impression that this is quite a good temp. for this cooler to sustain the CPU at under these conditions... is this right?

I'm not exactly new to OCing but as you can guess I have never 'taken the plunge'. (I guess it always seemed too painful... )

The graphics card will be the aging Radeon 8500 DV All In Wonder.

Please comment on this with any experience, ideas, thoughts or advice regarding the matter, especially as to the choice of cooler and make of the best thermal conducting paste; anyone have any tips of good price for the service suppliers of such items in the UK?

My esteemed thanks

Is the XP 2000 a palimino chip, or a thoroughbred chip, the palimino will run much hotter.

It is a thoroughbred chip.
Retail packed or boxed. Kind of pointless when I'm planning to OC this thing to within 1 degree Celcius of its working life . . . but its the only form in which I could get my hands on a Thoroughbred version. (Although seeing some of the results people have managed to wrangle out of this mobo '8RDA+' I wonder if I should not have gone with a bargain basement 1700+ or 1800+. . .)

Spare AMD Athlon XP fan anyone? Anyone? No takers?!?
-LOL

I am also based in Europe (UK) I don't know whether this helps pin down the family of cores it is likely to belong to.

Unfortunately it is on order as are the rest of the components for the system (hence the rather 'immaterial' quality to the question) so I am unable to provide any detailed serial numbers or the like for it.

As soon as I know what I have got I will report back with specifics and . . . hopefully . . . some envy rising scores, without, having fried the damned thing in the process!

Keep you cpu temperature below 50 degrees C and your processor will last a long time, overclock till it breaks!

Mmm . . . Are you saying that I should do this because of the 3 year manufacturer warranty on a retail product ?

Or merely in the spirit of things golfer49 ?
