Vcore Fluct cured on da+3

Hi All
With the addition of the 12v connector on the 8RDA+3 has the fluctuating vcore problem of the 8RDA+ been cured?Thinking of getting one and using the 8RDA+ in the second rig.Ta for any inf.Smiffy

It depends on how you measure Vcore and which one you're willing to believe, if you use a voltmeter the voltages vary very little, if you're rely on USDM/MBM5 you see fluctuations.....even throughout both boards.

Hi.

I'm the proud owner of a 8rda3+, and my Vcore (set at 1.75v) reads 1.72 to 1.76v in MBM5. Come to think about it, all of the voltages are really quite stable. I've only ever seen a reading of 5.03v for my 5v rail, and 11.8v for my 12v rail. Quite inmpressive really. I never owned a 8rda+, but I've seen lots of posts saying the V's are all over the place.

P.S. I use a UPS to regulate the power to my PC. Not sure if this would make a huge differnce.

Thanks all for the inf.I have measured my 8RDA+ with a meter and they are pretty stable. So maybe i'm worrying to much about what MBM says.On the same sort of question then has the overcurrent protection been relaxed abit now.In other words can we get a proper 2.2v vcore on the 8RDA+3.Ta all.Smiffy

I've found that OVP (over voltage protection) on both my 8RDA+ & 8RDA3+ now kicks in more readily with the newer stepping CPUs than previously.

eg. I have a dut3c xp 1700+ and I can pump 2.2 volts into it without a hint of OVP kicking in, cf this to the dlt3c xp 1700 where I can only give 1.875v tops before OVP.

Maybe I won't bother with the 8RDA+3.It would appear its only advantage to me would be a higher fsb .At the mo with Vdd at 1.925v(pushing my luck a bit maybe?)I can hack 210 with dual bank twinmos 3200 and 223 with single bank.If the 8RDA+3 does 1.6v,1.8 and 2.0v on the Vdd then thats no advantage.(and I think 2.0v is def pushing the luck).Smiffy.
