Trying to remember the guts of the first machine I built for myself. Maybe... it was a Celeron 300A, my first OC'd box. No, it was before that. Sheesh, brain not working well!

Then Windows 3.1 or was it 95(?) arrived and things got very much better for a noob.I started finding hardware sites, I had just bought a commputer and wanted to know a bit about it... the first thing I learned? I had a slow one! LOL
Thats the first thing everybody learns...

I build my first one back in 1985.. I didn't have much to work with, so i took a 486 mobo i still had, stuck a CPU in there.. i think it was a AMD 386 SL out of laptop, (they were really laptops in those days) and after a lot of hassle, coffee and cursing.. for some reason it worked, and not only that, but it beat the crap out of a 486DX.. lol

The computer company i was intern for at the time, stole my idea, and brought it out under the name 486slc... If i had the money back then.. i could have lead a lot better life the following years. Now it wasn't until 1997 before i finally started my own computer company.. which now exists 10 years, last April...

Didn't roll my own until 1997. Backwards, or what? Your own computational empire, most excellent!

Don't think anything fancy with that, because i never started it to get big, rich, or famous. I still have reasonable prices, i don't scam anyone under the name of "marketing strategy" and i refused offers to buy me out from large company's like KPN. Simply because i started this all to be a royal pain in the ass for company's like KPN. I am a difficult customer of their ISP branch Planet Internet for 7 years, to keep an eye on them. I can use as much bandwidth as i like, (which is why i download torrents 24/7..) because they will never have the guts to refuse me anything...

I have had arguments with the biggest out there, Intel to name one, They are actually great guys.. My client i called their main office for, after a heated argument with a reseller, had a new CPU in no time.. and the reseller lost his license to sell Intel products... lol.. Something to do with bad publicity... They do hate that, don't they ?.. No elaborate explanation needed.. Now thats service.. Sounds like mine.. I know most of Microsoft's help desk employees by their first name, what their wife's name is, if any, and how many children they have.. lol. I fought and won 3 court cases from KPN, and i am still all by my lonely self in this small company. I work till the job i started is done.. I kept clients up till 3 Am the next day, but i stay till its done.

But it's no big deal.. I work like any of you who don't have a company, only I have no start or closing time.. and a lot more employers..

I am impressed. Full service(without a groan) is rare and rarer in this world of disposable things, and sadly, people. Glad that you're fighting the good fight!

Even in a land more civilized than my own? Hate to think that the Netherlands is chock a block with backstabbing weasels. Is social degradation a concern everywhere? Probably, oh joy.

If we are to have a standard, we have to first create it. Well done DuDe.

As with every country, the safety and the wellbeing of the people, stand or fall with its government, an the number of people that are willing to go all the way to make sure that the common people are not abused, at least not in secret.

We in the Netherlands are an averagely rich, rather safe people. more open minded and tolerant then anyone else in the world. But with the change of our government, 5 years ago.. things have been going downwards. If i tell you that most everyone has been going back in income 1-5%, but that the government, including the ministers, have gained 10% The president-minister even 50%.. you can imagine that people will moan. They will moan until a certain point, then they will do something about it.

About crime. Its really not understandable to me, that some people will degrade themselves so badly for only a small financial gain. But then again, i also cant understand, why anyone would organize a gay sex party, and then inject the gays with HIV contaminated blood. Or why any couple of parents, would leave they child alone to have dinner in a totally strange country.. Or why a man throws his wife over the balcony, because he isn't ensured enough to pay her hospital bill..

Take this from me; "99% of the people will do anything, and i mean anything, for financial gain. I could make a list, but i suspect u all know, and some of you, are. I am saying it here and now, like i have always done. Not while i am around.. i am one that will try to stop you, if only my death raises the necessary concern.. so be it. But i will not give in to this idiotic degradation of society, that people call a lifestyle, and that is based on sex, money and/or power.

/steps of soapbox, grabs his Uzi.

"Knights of the faith always stand alone....":O}

The armies of the faithful gather and unite in time of need... But the knights of the faith must remain in place. For from where they stand we cannot retreat except into desolation... and...they always stand alone, until the humanity arrives that can relieve them... and give them rest.

Or bushido, the code of honor of the samurai. Watched a PBS show detailing the construction of those wicked swords last night. Mama mia, no wonder they are such effective weapons.

Wait a sec, isn't this thread about the ease of obtaining our honorable case badges? Nothing in the neighborhood of a blood oath pledging fealty to a strict code of honor!

Amazing, someone else saw a PBS show. It's good to feel that you're in good company. Short on explosions, though. There are explosions enough in real life, thanks. Need peace be too much to ask? Stupid question.

Case badges for sale--for the cost of a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope--that is.

Smores, I've never seen one, much less eaten one. I think I'll live. Whew! And now... da da dah da dah, da da da da daah--duh duh duh duuh, duh duh du duuh, daah-- it continues, but not for long. It's from the NBC orchestra. Name that tune! Or theme to a tv show, more accurately.
A certificate for a cool water sandwich, and a Sunday go to meeting bun will be yours! Bow, bow, bow & so forth.

Are the Trappist monks the ones that pledge to remain silent? Perhaps yer brain becomes more clear without yer yap a yappin? Dunno, I have plenty of static whether I'm talking or not. If I lived at ground level I could pound an eight foot copper rod into the ground. But would it "ground" me? Bzzattlerattle. I doubt it.
