I never liked needles, especially the hollow kind. Saw a PBS begging for money show about the brain recently. If the image of a junkie's brain was accurate, that's not a smart career!

Most of us have petrol problems. Public transit has to pay for the distillate that it uses, fares must rise. Is it possible that dealing with less and less oil will cause discomfort all around?

Perhaps it's more that our, cough, leadership has lost its way. Then again, we put the fools in office(or allow the criminal bahstages to stay in office), so it's down to us again. Sometimes I don't like us very much.

I saw parts of a BBC documentary online the other day. It tells of an Egyptian man who found what he saw as rampant individualism, a selfishness that negates society's worth in the States while he studied in Colorado. He wanted the people of the Muslim faith to embrace the technological advancements of the West, yet achieve strength and coherence through strict adherence to the tenets of the religion, and to rise above the West thereby.

At the same time Leo Strauss founded the philosophy of Neo-Conservatism at the University of Chicago, which he saw as an antidote to the same fragmentation of society noted by the Egyptian whose name I can't remember, sorry.

Ta dah! Welcome to today's world of the battle between terrorists and unabashed Fascists. It's horsecrap from both sides. When you realize this life becomes more "normal." Yay!
