To be honest, neither. It's time for a real third party. There is absolutely no hope for the future with the one Real Money
Party that we really have.
Sure, as a rule the so called Democrats are slightly less evil than the so called Republicans. But evil is evil and it must be replaced. Good luck with that, a police state is a police state and they are difficult to throw off one's back.

I think it's time for you to spend some quality time with George Orwell's "1984", and if you haven't had the pleasure yet, check out the film "Crime Zone" (not a true great, but a lot of fun )!

"The Once and Future King" is a book that's more fun to read. Maybe I'll have a look at "Crime Zone," thanks for the pointer.

There's also a film "1984" (1984), extremely well done! Also, in case you haven't seen it, "Farenheit 451" (1966), a truly remarkable film.

Between "Brave New World" and "1984," which one came true? Ah, flibbertigizzit, they're both slices of paradise. For Them, not us.

As of Jan 1, recreational marijuana purchase of up to an ounce became legal in Colorado. It's also legal for a household to grow up to six plants at home. "The times ... they are ... a chang-ing !" (Courtesy of Bob Dylan)

The novelty of walking into a retail establishment and purchasing maryjane legally is most refreshing. Alas, a quarter century has passed since last I smoked the stuff and I seriously doubt that I would buy some over the counter. It's also legal in my home state, yet I fear the feds are beside themselves with righteous (and sadly, legal) anger over these upstart Western free thinking horrible hippies.

The liquor lobby is undoubtedly beside itself in furious wrath--lest the far less damaging herb replace its own literally murderous products in the consumer's choice of intoxicants. Tons of desperate cash will fall upon the can't be beat for honesty elected officials. Where's Harry J Anslinger when they so badly need him? Dead. But they'll find another of course.

Thanks for the reference, didn't recall the name! Apparently a true self made man. Born in Switzerland, started as a barber, and was the U.S. drug prohibition King Pin for some thirty years.

He couldn't find any facts that made marijuana dangerous. So he made up his own. Well done and a Sieg heil to his majesty. I had no idea that he was Swiss once upon a time, thanks for the 411. Hope he's spinning like a top six feet under.

One of my happiest finds was "Reefer Madness" (non-colorized, of course), and did you know there's a musical of the same name? Have it, but have yet to view. Probably my happiest find was "The Lady in Black", the original that is, not the remake.

When you compare facts the consequences of alcohol intake can be literally murderous and some folks die from alcoholism. That obviously makes it more acceptable to the power structure. The world is really screwed up.

Unfortunately, death by alcohol is most frequently bestowed upon the bystander, not the imbiber. That poor dear boy Ethan Couch for example!

The powerful plow on through the ordinary people. Must things remain this way?

Why yes. Why would I dream of a world wherein the mighty do not use the little people to make their road smoother? And with a respectful tug of our forelocks we salute their superiority as we die beneath their wheels. Yay, hooray.

My own understanding of direct U.S. involvement/presence in the Far East was to balance the influence and likely domination by China. It's one thing to maintain a military presence, but it's a stronger thing to have an economic presence. I believe the original intent of the TPP was to create exactly that, an economic unification of the East including Australia, New Zealand, and likewise the US. The principle seems worthwhile and perhaps could be effective, even appears China is raising the possibility of joining. So has it gone wrong, pandering to the necessarily involved multinational corporate world? Does it extend and expand the NAFTA problems instead of correcting them?

Seems too much smoke (intermediate leaks, fears, assumptions) and not enough knowledge. Recognizing that anything Obama's in favor of will be a no-go for Congressional Republicans, how much opportunity should Congress have to derail it? Plus, what's the likelihood that Congressional amendments will be accepted by the other TPP partners? Face it, the snapshot leaks have little likelihood of representing the final agreement -- despite the frequent viewpoint of critics, negotiation takes place in stages, agreements/disagreements/revisions. The leaks appear to be held up as something representative of culmination, rather than snapshots of the process.

Just seems like excessive smoke to me. Nothing wrong with fears, but the fears aren't necessarily based on facts, more likely appearances. Are we just witnessing the normal process of negotiation? Black and white is fine for fairy tails, but how does it translate into the real world? At all?

The TPP will be the final spike in the heart of Democracy. It will enthrone corporations while disinheriting The People forever and ever, amen. What is business in league with government? Benito Mussolini called it Fascism.

To be sure, it would appear corporate intent is to destroy any sign of country sovereignty, but is Obama and his administration truly in cahoots? It appears pretty clear other governments aren't keen on turning themselves over to corporate jurisdiction! This may well be a self correcting situation.

It's a fair bet that if the Corporatocracy likes it, President Obama loves it. No daylight between the Oligopoly, Plutocracy and our President. Not one bit of difference, they are all the same.
