Exclamation new Nvidia Nforce2 WHQL 2.42 drivers released...

get them here for WinXP

and here for Win2K

These also are 25MB each...

This nForce WinXP driver package contains the below components:

Audio driver 3.37 + TOT.nvu
Audio utilities 3.37 + TOT.nvu
Ethernet driver 3.13 (WHQL) + TOT.nvu
GART driver 3.34 (WHQL)
Memory controller driver 3.38 (WHQL) + TOT.nvu
SMBus driver 3.38 (WHQL) + TOT.nvu
Installer 3.42
Display drivers 43.51 (WHQL)

Looks to me like they totally pulled the IDE drivers...

May 22 update:

-Removed nForce IDE driver in the 2.42 kit
WHQL certified kit for nForce and nForce2
-Includes support for nForce2 400 and nForce2 Ultra 400
-Update audio performance fixes for EAX supported games
-Update audio control panel

Nothing big, just removing the problem we've all learned about the hard way.

I learned the hardway through a shiny new CD-R coaster that the SW drivers don't let me burn...

International version included this time instead of a different package I'd assume. Can anyone compare actual file versions? i.e. verify that nothing else has been updated (I'm stuck at work and it sucks)?

Ahh genius you are right... i overlooked that it is the international version... duh on my part

Nothing has changed in these new drivers except for the removal of the SW IDE driver kit that was in v2.41

I've got a 8RDA3+ and I've installed v2.42 drivers. It's installed fine, even tho I only unistalled the other drivers (v2.03).

However, do I still need to install my C-Media drivers? I have sound without installing these drivers tho.

Do the nVidia v2.42 drivers support the C-Media, or does it work by fluke?

Thanks for your time,
Blackmyst!

The IDE driver problem is a relatively minor issue on an otherwise great high-performance chipset. I'd still take nForce2 over any current VIA chipset.

The MS IDE drivers default to PIO mode. If you go under advanced settings on both the Primary and Secondary controller channels, you can set Ultra DMA mode which performs much better.

Nvidia pulled them from their site. The FTP link is still working but if you go to download them from the website, only the 2.03's are available.
