Think temps vary from MB to MB. On mine the Nbridge has always been relatively cool (35.C surface temp measured with a probe) whilst the SBridge was bloody hot (>50.C- the probe I used would not go above 50.C)- so I did put an old pentium heatsink on that with no fan.
