Results of removing JCLK Jumper

After reading some of the other threads here regarding improved FSB overclocks after removing the JCLK jumper, I decided to give it a shot.

With the JCLK on the proper setting for a Barton 2500+ 333, I was maxing out with a 190 FSB (with excellent stability). I was able to go higher and boot into Windows, but would get Prime95 errors and 3dmark2003 would freeze, usually on the cpu tests. Upping my VDD did not make any difference.

After removing the jumper, and raising my VDD to 1.8, I am extremely stable at a 205 FSB. My overall oc isn't amazing, but I am more than happy with a 205 FSB. Anyways, there is definitely a difference in my system without the jumper. Just wanted to share my results.

Here is my rig:

AMD Barton 2500+
Pal 8045 Heatsink / Delta 80 mm
2x256 MB Mushkin 3200 low latency RAM running synchronously in dual channel mode
8RGA+ mobo
205FSB x 10.5

Thanks for that - will give it a go tonight. I'm running a 2500 Barton on an 8RDA+ (non-volt modded), and the highest stable fsb I can get is 193.

is this just for 8RD/G boards, or would this apply to my lowly 8K3A as well???

Did you try that at stock VDD and does this only benefit running +200 mhz?

I believe theres a bios release for other boards to autodetect 100mhz cpu's, eliminating this jumper altogether.

Yeah, I did try it at stock VDD because I was hoping not to have to up it since I am using the original passive cooling on the mobo for it... I could boot into Windows no problem at stock VDD but the system wasn't stable for long...

As far as the 200+ question, not sure...I don't know enough about why it would help in the first place, although I did see one thread around here with an attempted explanation...

I can report the same behaviour of my Barton 2500+.
With JCLK jumper in 133/166 position, I could boot in to Windows, but it was very unstable at gaming, Prime 95 and 3D Mark at any FSB higher than 193.
When I put JCLK in 100/133 position, now it is rock stable all the way up to 215FSB.
When I had 2100+, the jumper position was irrelevant for FSB o/c ing.
