Connecting 8RDA USB header to Lian-Li Case

Firstly, I have read the FAQ!

I've connected all 9 wires of the 8RDA USB header to my Lian-Li PC6087 case's front portsas per the manual and Epox website FAQ, and they don't work (won't even recognise a simple device like a game pad), though the four rear ports have always worked from the start.
Recently, whilst fitting a CDR to a friend's machine that was built by someone else, I noticed the 9th wire (Overshield) wasn't connected to their mobo (in this case an ABit unit), and his ports worked. I came home and unplugged the 9th wire from mine without changing any of the others and mine started working too. However, running them without a wire marked "Voltage Overshield" is a bit too much like asking for trouble to me. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks

ChrisB

You only need 6 or 8 wires connected (6 is naughty - 8 is correct)

That was quick!! Thanks, I just didn't want to fry my Mobo. Is 8 wires OK with any device (I'm thinking of high drain devices like ADSL modems and scanners), or is it safer to stick to gamepads and mains powered devices?

That depends on how out of specification the USB device is.
