Twinmos/winbond ch-5 Timings/fsb to use /w 8RDA+

Ok, well, im checking out my system with some Twionmos/Winbond pc3200 ch-5 512mb stuff. I just started it up at 12x180 6332 which my hyperX would only do on my board (never got it past 180). Now it running stable (2 passes memtest 0 errors) and (1hr prime no errors). All is running at default voltages.

Question: What timings does this memory like and how high should i look to go without a different northbridge cool?
Do i need to up vdimm or do these chips run fine at default. Any info on the chips would be great. Thanx

The CH-5's are not good at high voltages. I've got them at 215fsb (8rda3+) running 10-3-3-2.0 @ 2.63v. I suggest staying at 2.5v for as long as you can, then go to 2.63. Going to 2.77 for me at higher FSB didn't help, and I've never got 2.9v to work at ANY fsb!

Good luck,
Blackmyst

See this thread about memory timings, and also this review of the Twinmoss memory!

I now have mine set as in my signature, and find it runs well.
TBH everyone seems to have different opinions, just a bit of trial and error tweaking and benchmarking etc.

Now. I upped it to 12x185 and got no errors 2 passes memtest but error 1min into prime. Upped vcore to 1.7 and running prime stable 30min. 40c-41c. temps idle 35-36c

Link to voltages and all. What should i do from here volteages ok under load? Pictures

PS: Confirmed HYPERX sux on my board. I mean hell, with no effort im at 185fsb with twinmos unlike my 180wall with hyperx

OK. ran default at 9x200 and ran mem test 2 passes no eorrs. Took 2x longer than usuall and read 442mb/s. Rebooted after test and went into bios and changed to 10x200 and no go. default vdimm and vcore 1.7. Got c1 error and beeping. Whats going on?
changed timinigs from 6332 to 6222. No go. Had to use insert both times to get into bios. BTW at 200 when i hold insert to boot it read 100fsb? Why but in bios 200mhz

The ch-5 chips need a trcd of 3t, not 2t.

Try CL2.5 seems like the CH-5 can run higher FSB than BH-5 but not tighter timings as the BH-5 can, but as I said over at the other forum I would try more Vdimm

ok did 8x200 fsb 2 passes in memtest at default voltages. NO GO errors all over mem test.
upped vdimm to 2.77 (2.8 in cpuid) and ran 8x200 at 6322 for 2 passes. No errors. Was the vdimm my problem?
Am i fine now. Dont want anything to blow cause i know amdforums says ch-5 dont like above 2.63

---------------------------------------------------------------------
That vdimm is fine. Twinmos call for 2.6 default and 8rda undervolts vdimm ( mine by about .06 volts) so 2.63 wouldn't even reach defualt voltage"2.63v-.06v=2.57v" check what the actual voltage is with USDM,MBM or something like that.I'm at (bios 2.9) actual 2.84.

2.82V ? hmm you have good overvolting board

You should be fine with that voltage i'm sure it will not damage your RAM. If someone said that CH-5 dosent like high volt he probably had instability with higher voltage. If your RAM is stable with higher Vdimm than its good for you. Enjoy your overclocking

Good luck

As New-b, said this mem is rated at cas 2,5 , you should run it at stock voltage at 200 fsb cas 2,5 but you have not guarantee at cas 2.

edit: little bit too late with reply

nice. I guess 11x200 so far with 2100+ is good
temps under load 39c, idle 35c

2 passes mem test no errors.
1hr prime no errors
