8RDA3+ - verdict?

how do you 8RDA3+ users rate this board? The actual layout looks superb, but is the board as bad as some ppl make it out to be?

Some ppl said it has problem with Kingston RAM when running above 200FSB, isn't it true?

I've spent a week with this board and i'm having problems getting it to run stabily at any settings.
i get random lockups and reboots, tried 3 gigs of diff ram and a few diff PSU's.
i may just have a turkey board but i get lockups every few hours even at default speeds.
i'm thinking of sending it back and getting an ASUS or Abit board.
i'm an experianced overclocker and i just cant find any settings that are stable for more than a few hours. Hopefully i have jsut got a bad board but if you read about there are a few other prople with problems. The 8RDA this board replaced was lovely and stable at 200fsb and high cpu speeds tho.

Ohoho this might very well be you when you get this board. But eventually you get it working and then it shows its power. Ive been using it for just about a week now (active use i mean) and yes thats 2 days where ive run stable after spending alot of time messing around with bios and switching a PSU and so. THe psu part aint the board itself. IT was just too old. But once you get it running you have a very overclockable board and its stable as hell then IMO Ive tried and yes i can run at 200mhz FSB with kingston value ram even. So i guess it aint impossible to push further..

i'm looking forward to the revision 2 8RDA3+ that will shortly replace my revision 1.0. my board is perfect under high stress. however it is going back because it needs 1.75 vcore to run prime95 even at default settings.
i had the rev2.0 a7n8x-dlx in my office last night and was not impressed with the lack of 4pin power connector or the missing southbridge heatsink.

@ Soul99 - raise your vcore

in short try get the revision 2.x

i tried to eliminate all overclocking as the problem the board should run at default speeds. it fails to do this.
I've tried up to 1.9vcore and it doesnt help.
temp isnt a problem with the cpu at 10c. if this board cannot run defaults stabily then i want another one or a different brand, i cannot be dealing with stability problems, its not worth my time or effort and its not what i paid for.

My experience of the board has been mixed, it has caused me no end of headaches and trouble but recenterly I have finaly got it to calm down and its going along nicely, my Prometiea cooled rig with a 2.4 gig 200 FSB 2500 + now has an uptime of over a week which is preety good.

8rda3+ Opinion

I love this board - I've NEVER had a problem with it.

Booted up no probs beginning of June with SATA in Raid 0 and not a single lock up or crash since!

200mhz with all voltages at default.

Faults? If I had to pick something it would be the lack of Northbridge cooling and the power connector positioning. Looks like V2.0 fixes the former.

Regards

Geeza

I can get the 8RDA3G board knowing it is the revision 2.0 but at Komplett i do not know whether the 8RDA3+ is the revision 2.0.

if any1 can help me out and find a place in the UK which sells the 2.0 board, i'd be very grateful.

If you want Epox UK support then dont buy from Komplett! Check their website for their main retailers and purchase from them.

Yeah I bought mine from komplett which probably explains why the techs don't help me. I didn't know at the time though & I have bought loads of RDAs in the UK for friends so I thinks that sucks.

This is my last Epox board for now. In future I'm only going to buy rev 2.0 or above boards & that goes for the other companys as well as epox.

I was happy to begin with but the problems started appearing. NONE of my PCI cards work with this board and 1.75 volts is enough to make the OVP kick in, especially in Prime 95. Frankly, I feel like a beta tester & I'm now looking for a NF7-S rev 2.

If you want a Epox board get an 8RGA+ or wait & see if the rev 2 8RDA3+ is any good. I would be very tempted to look elsewhere at the moment though.

Pooface, its a combination of finding a good bios, testing my Barton very methodicaly to work out it was the CPU not the ram or mobo that didnt like the high FSB and adding heatinks and a fan to the voltage regulator chips to stop it from shutting down with high v.core.

solved all my problems, I bought an Abit NF7-s and got it stable at 210fsb and 2420mhz at 1.71v core within 20 mins of turning it on.
still gotta play with it, but i'm hoping now my problems are gone i'll get 2.6 gig >
8c cpu temps btw >

I could only ever get to windows at 2.3 gig with 1.9v in the epox board.
