8RDA+ startup fail - this might help

I have had startup probs with this board (v1.1 - B?/A2) for a while with different memory and PSU not curing it. I am currently using TwinMOS TMD7608F8E 50D chipped 256mb x 2 PC3200 modules in DC and have found that startup would hang intermittently with just fans going. I could sometimes overcome this by holding in the power button for 2 secs but found lately that this didn't work either.
I have VDD modded to 1.85v and aggressive cooling on the chips plus mosfet cooling as well. There is 40A on the 5v rail and 3A on the 5sb line.

The following has given me 3 days of use without any startup trouble. Not extensive tresting but trouble free at last. It is worth noting that this comp is not a 24/7 machine but switched off and on at various times of the day by various family members.

BIOS:-

Advanced Chipset Features

System Performance [Optimal]
CPU Clock Ratio [as required]
FSB Frequency [200]
CPU Interface [Optimal]
Memory Frequency [Auto]

My DIMM volts are at 2.9 and I have maintained my overclock at 2000 MHz (200x10) @ 1.9v on my AIUGA CPU with watercooling.
For some reason (maybe somebody can tell me?) i had to disable Fast Writes in the bios as well. The graphics card is INNO3D 4200 8X 128mb (different from sig)

I'm not making statements here just passing on what worked for me. Maybe it will help somebody.

You wont get to the top of the charts at Mad Onion but at least the damn thing is reliable.

In what way is it unstable with fastwrites enabled, all other things being equal? Sorry a bit of a selfish question I know.

Kept locking up at the start of POST after the bios updated itself but the machine was starting up every time having done the "Advanced Chipset" changes so this change was done just so i could move on to do other things with the comp. It may have a bearing on my overall problem but i did not linger around to find out due to the queue behind me waiting to use the machine.

I too have startup probs with my 8rda3+. It sometimes takes me 8 or 10 mixed resets and turn-off-turn-on before it will boot. I think I'll try the disabling of Fast Writes, but dare not to go with 2.9 on the Vdimm as I only have standard PC2700 Samsung.

Hey, just tried the things you described.

Mem. frequenzy at Auto
Fast Writes disabled
Sys. performance Optimal
CPU interface Optimal

Only had to reset once before booting all the way. This actually might have helped me. Have to test it for some days though. Might be different when the PC has been off for the night (living in denmark with high energy prices makes me shut it down during night times. The government actually demands almost 50% tax of the total price per KWh).

Did another 3 restarts in a row, amazing. I can now post and boot with one reset maximum. Of the 3 restarts from Win XP, I only pushed my reset button two times, on each in two of three reboots.

It seems as the HDD's are not ready. With the 33526 bios on my 8rda3+ the disk spin all the way down on restarts. I think that this is why the post won't go any further as the post process is waiting for the disks to spin up.

Wish Epox would have removed the spin down "feature" in 33526 bios.
