Problems with Nero recognizing my LiteOn cdrw..

I isntalled and registered Nero.. but it won't see my Liteon cdrw.. I'm using an 8rda3+ with the microsoft ide drivers and the cd-rw has been working fine as a regular cd rom drive. When I go to choose recorder.. all it says is Device - Image Recorder/Adapter - Virtual Device and no SCSI id of course.. it's an ide drive. Anyone know how I might fix this? Thanks.

AFAIK the nero bundle that comes with the Lite-on CDRW only work with the lite-on and isn't an upgradable version.

Maybe try uninstalling nero and reinstalling without upgrading ?

What OS are you using ? If winxp check for the windows update for cd-burning patch.

I tried it originally with the cd version and it didn't work upgraded.. same thing.. grr! Guess I'll have to go out and buy something if I can't get this to work Was hoping it was a driver problem hehe.

Did you try switching the jumpers and location of the drive to slave/master? Or cable select ? I guess you are using winxp, if so have you checked and enabled "UDMA if available" in device manager and then right clicked -Secondary IDE Channel- and chose "detect for hardware change", my cdrw needs to be seen there as -multi-word udma2 -for it to run correctly. The winxp cd burner program worked OK , just not to burn an ISO image, other stuff was OK.

This exact same thing happened to me - it was because of the nvidia IDE drivers that came with the nforce 2.41s. I uninstalled them (just removed them in Device Manager and the default Windows ones came back on reboot) and I could select my CD burner again. If you have a nforce mobo, this may well be your problem. Good luck!

hmmmm.... yes me too

i have 2 cd writers but use only 1 of each in my system:

HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8240B LG DRIVE
Lite-On LTR-48246S

they work ok in 8KHA+ mobo
but in my 8RDA+ v1.1, nero 5.5 and click&burn 1.5.717
do not find the RW drive but only use it as a reader:
"no compatible recorder drives have been found in this computer"

before i upgraded to nvidia 2.45 the drives would show up with a ssci designation in the device manager
but now they only show to be ide
i tried both 40 line & 80 line cables

real strange... ;(

(will try the fix above and let you know if it worked)
