I've had a look at the Data sheet for a W832627HF and there is a Divisor setting, defined at CR47,CR4B and CR5D. The default is 2 for fans with nominal PRM (RPM??) of 4400. My cpu fan is 2500rpm but the psu fan reads correctly and that is only 1450rpm so there must be more to it.

Yes, it's possible to increase the divisor. But I don't know if the reported fan speed is correct (where do you know which RPM is the right value, 1250, 2500 or 5000?).

WOW!! I just found out about this great program. I saw CPUHEAT awhile ago and kept wondering why there were not other programs like it. Great job.
I posted a few more links and info at silentpcreview to support this program.
I have been putting off getting an Athlon64 system due to cost but with this program I think I will be very happy with a mobile Barton.

What is the most versatile motherboard for use with this program? Most features supported. I am leaning toward the Abit AN7 but am open to whatever is best.

Just to let you know... the rumour is that these aren't exactly the most wonderful boards on the market. I haven't personally tried one.

It's also difficult to fairly answer your question in the EPOX forum

Good to see more people discovering this great util. Infact I was the one who orignally posted about 8rdavcore on the SCPR forums back in november 2003. Now finally they have gotten around to adding 8rdavcore to their recommended links list, and also they are running a small feature on their front page right now about a guy achieving a good, stable & dynamic undervolt .. :-)

As for the second question I'm able to answer that: I recommend the 8rda-series of boards .. they are very stable with 8rdavcore and work with all features except the fan controlling, which isn't possible simply because there is no hardware on the boards for it.

Hasw, do you have any plans releasing the current codebase under linux? The old one is kind of outdated by now ..

Hello jib,

I was suprised to find that after I posted my comment for this program at spcr that there were already posts on the subject. I had been browsing spcr for a number of months and never came across this program. I did not think to search for the name after I learned about it from a google link, before posting.
I had seen in the athlon cool&quiet post, the program listed for nforce2, but glossed over it as it did not say it had anything like an autofsb feature, and that is what I was looking for. I came across cpuheat nine months ago but did not feel safe building a computer based on the athlon XP mobile expecting cool & quiet like features with a program that looked to be abandoned. I was so happy to find this program and this forum. I had hoped that cpuheat would continue to be supported so that I could use the new via dual channel and cpuheat's automatic multiplier change on the fly feature.

I would love to purchase an epox as they are less expensive and have an oem passive northbridge, however, I think the fan control is definitely a plus for me as I want a very quiet system. If this program runs more stablely on an epox versus nf7-s or an7, I would consider the epox, but if everything else is equal, I think fan control is a need.

Hasw,
To your knowledge, what motherboard does your program best support for stability and features? I would expect your reply will be the 8RDA+, that you own and wrote the program for, but I am curious to whether this is the case. Is the nf7-s comparable but with the added support of fan control?

Thanks for a very cool program.

@jib: I've written a cpufreq module for kernel 2.6 which allows you to change the CPU speed on nForce2 mainboards. Current version: http://www.hasw.net/linux/cpufreq-nforce2-0.2.tar.bz2

For the VCore module look for updates at www.hasw.net in a week or so.

@antonboutin: Yes, because I own a 8RDA+, the 8RDA-serie is the best supported. The NF7 was the second board I've added, so it is also good supported. But as Daniel wrote, look at the 8rdavcore page to see which features on which boards are supported.

Hasw,

Once I get your program working and stable on my computer, which I hope is very soon, I will be PayPaling you $10.
I thank you for this well thought out program and hope enough folk are PayPaling you to remunerate your efforts.

With kind regards,
Anton Boutin

Lightbulb

Hi,

after some time, to show that 8rdavcore is not dead , here a small outlook of the next version.

http://www.hasw.net/8rdavcore/8rdavcore-main.png
http://www.hasw.net/8rdavcore/8rdavcore-presets.png
http://www.hasw.net/8rdavcore/8rdavcore-autofsb.png
http://www.hasw.net/8rdavcore/8rdavcore-sensors.png
http://www.hasw.net/8rdavcore/8rdavcore-settings.png

I will adjust some minor things and think I can upload the next testversion in a couple of days.

No, I haven't found someone who can borrow me a AN7 yet. So voltage control isn't available. However FSB and chipset control are working (sensor also when I've finished the driver).

I have an AN7, but since you are in Germany that would be a little expensive on freight. I'm glad to hear about the FSB, chipset, and sensor stuff, though.

Exclamation

The new version is now available at http://www.hasw.net

The changes are too much to tell (nearly 95% of code rewritten), but I think
a main point is that the BIOS interface from NVidia is now supported (voltage changing and sensor values). This should help on boards which are not directly supported before.

- The AutoFSB function is also completely new, allows now more combinations.
- Display of hard-drive temperatures and health attributes possible
- Detects suspend/hibernation and applies save voltages (if selected)
- Many other small visible/invisible things...test it

As for all other versions before I have only tested this version on my 8RDA+ and not other boards.

I've uploaded the file also to AOA files, so download it there if you want to help me saving traffic
