Hi HasW - hope you are keeping track of this thread.

I want to wish you a very Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year from all at EPoX UK in recognition of your outstanding work and dedication that the 8rdavcore project has been given and the project status at present which is seen to be better than other comparable solutions from other parties.

You are one tremendous guy for this display of a work d'amour and I hope that if you are not employed in programming, you soon do become as you have a valuable asset in your ability.

Best Wishes and Merry Christmas

As soon as you restart your PC it should come back to "normal".

hi hasw,
can you write a watchdog timer driver for linux 2.6? i see you have already experimented by writing 8rdawdt, but this functionality should belong in the kernel. no rush mind you, just a nudge in the right direction.

p.s. a watchdog timer driver for the winbond on the 8rda+ got merged into 2.6.0-mm1, but it doesn't seem to reset the computer when the timer runs down to zero. perhaps you could fix this for the 8rda+ as an alternative. however, i doubt the winbond has the capability to hard-reset the machine, only the atxp1 can.

@hchu: Yes, maybe. It's a good idea, but at the moment I haven't much time. Maybe in one or two months.

@helloguy: It's for the 0.8 versions were you can set the multiplikator (if it's not propper recognized) with, for example -m 15.

No this is for NF7. Maybe it works on newer revisions of the 8RDA if Epox uses the PWM-outputs of the Winbond for fan-control.

Hi Hasw,

I've installed this great prog yesterday and found those
two problems ( NF7-s rev2.0 / win XP) .

The cpu load display in % does not change, only
when I click reset, the value changes to actual load
and then remains the same again, but the AutoFsb works
( ie the FSB changes according to the real load)

The second problem is that the Vcore does not change during
autoFSB. Say I have three vcore presets

100:1.4
60:1.375
50:1.3

when the FSB goes down to 50, it says "invalid vcore" and
vcore remains on 1.4.

The worse scenario is when it goes from 50 to 100 under load,
because it increases FSB to 100 but vcore remains on 1.3
which is quite unhealthy state. It should at least
stop increasing FSB if it cannot increase vcore.

But the main question is - why this "invalid vcore" message
appears. Manual vcore change works.

regards

Is the sensor update frequency != 0? If not, the CPU-Load
display will not update.

Is it possible that you send me the 8rdavcore.deb debug file?

You can now test the new 0.8-dev, the preset problem should be fixed (the preset code was knowing only 3 digit FSBs).

Great, I was just in the middle of sending you the debug output.
The dev version works fine.

Is there some explanation for the fan speed settings ?
I do not understand this duty cycle and frequency much.
( maybe because I never used soft like fanspeeed/speedfan) .
If I get it right, it's not possible to change fan voltage,
so you switch it on/off ?

The fan speed is controlled by using a "pulsed" voltage with a variable pulse length. 255 is the maximum (full fanspeed) and 0 is off. Mostly you will only recognize a big in-/decrease in the fan speed from 0-50.

With frequency you can set different PWM frequencys because some fans don't like some frequency ranges. Also you can lower your fan speed a little bit if you lower the frequency.

Temp min. and max. is the estimated processor temperature range. This is because the Fan speed is calculated like this: (fanmax-fanmin) / (tempmax-tempmin) * (current cpu temp - tempmin)
