nForce chipsets will not let memory run at CAS 3.0, change your memory to run at 100% of FSB speed, DP NOT USE "SPC" setting, memory timings of 11-3-3 at cas 2.5 or 2.0, do not use cas 3.

It could be a compatibility issue between the ram and board. Do you have other ram to try? Try using one DIMM.

Perhaps you were unlucky and got a 2500+ that doesn't overclock well.

8RDA3+ and Barton CPU just don't like each other - thats an open secret.
This bug has been there for month now but still no statement from Epox concerning that AFAIK.
All I heard so far was "there is no issue". oh yeah.
Tell me if I missed something.
Gotta love this 8RDA+.

Gee, I just finished building 3 PC's with the Barton 2500, 8RDA3+, and 2 sticks of 256mb Kingston HyperX. The purr along at 11x200 all day long.
Just load the latest bios (8/2003), and they fire right up... They are all 3 different versions, 1.0, 1.1, 2.0...

Are there suppossed to be problems?

Paul...

maybe they solved it with latest bios... maybe not.
But just browse the forums, you'll find so many peeps who are having trouble like e.g. they have to give the CPU very high Vcore even when running default speeds.
A friend of mine has that problem, too - he has to use 1,85V for his Barton 2500+ to run stable on 8RDA3+ even if its not overclocked. I'll ask him if that new bios gets rid of it.

Hi,

I'm running 1.75v on all 3 of the 8rda3+'s. Really enjoyed the version 2.0 as it has the NB fan on it from the factory. It was really wanting more OC, but since this was for a friend, I just left it at 11x200. I didn't have the time to mess with trying more FSB. Another key factor is running the ram at 100% and Agressive with a good power supply. I used Antec 400w or 430w on all of them. Also use good Ram. It would work fine with 2.0, 2, 2, 5, but since I didn't know what games he would be running, left them at 2.5, 3, 3, 8....

The new bios really solved the problems of the multipliers.

A lot of people mis-understand the heat that shows up. The sensor for the CPU in the socket, actually is high on 8RDA3+'s and touches the bottom of the CPU, thus higher heat readings. Mine runs normally at 53c with 5 fans. Room temp though, means a lot on the heat.

Paul...

hehe...
I am building about 3 systems a week at the very least and I've been doing so for quite some time now, so I know the basics all right
Thing is, I was having so much trouble with these mobos even when using high-quality components like ANtec 380W truePower PSU and Corsair XMS3500 ram from my very own system!
So I stopped buying 8RDA3+ mobos for my clients mostly getting 8RDA+es for them.
I must admit though that I haven't tried 8RDA3+ Rev 2 yet.
Latest bios seems to help some peeps but not everyone with Rev 1.x
My friend still has to use 1,85V...
And everyone's pretty happy with the 8RDA+es so...

well i've tryed vcore 1.85 and it's running very stable at 9.5@200 (i haven't tryed more for now) just i've to buy another cooler since my cpu go around 60c° under stress...
another think i've noticed...with Sandra my barton seems very slow compared with the result of that software...it's slower than a 2400+ and a lot more slower than a 2600+
now with 9,5@200 is similar to a 2400+....?
can u write your results plz? with the normal settings of the 2500+?

Mines a rock, Barton 2500@ 2.4 gigs 8RDA+
Corsair works well at just about any setting 200/200
1.95 and 2.90 Voltage.
12X200

Edited to correct for my feeblemindedness!
