How can one find the tightest / loosest memory timings for one's memory?

I'm using Twinmos CH-5 PC3200 256MB x 2. I'm always seeing people post things like do 6-2-2-2 or 11-2-2-2 etc, as tightest timings, but its specific to each memory it seems, so I was wondering how do I find my tightest timings that yields the most memory transfer, or should I do loosest timings and get max FSB? Thanks.

Send a message via ICQ to golfer49

Run whatever timings will keep the system stable at the highest FSB.

I've just been using optimal, doing any non-default timings gets errors in memtest86, which is why i wanted to know what a tight and loose timing is and how to find it. Do i just start with like 20-20-20-3 and then keep going down to liek 15-20-20-3 or something, for example.

8RDAs do not like any mem setting with cas 3.0 so a tight memory setting would be something like 5,2,2,cas2.0 and a loose setting would be something like 11,3,3,2.5.
The safest way to play with the settings is to use memtest86 and see what bandwidth it gives with diff settings.
My twinmos with twinmos chips operates optimally with 11,3,2,2.0 around 200MHZ FSB.
