Unhappy 8K5a2+ and cas 3 memory...help!

i recently buyed a dimm of Elixir 3200 cas 3 ,the board doesnīt recognize the mem as 3200 as it is a kt 333,but that is not my problem, the problem is i cant get past 170mhz ,the memory wont do it,and it should do at least 200,right?

i think the problem is that the board wont recognize the cas 3 .
i tryed to lower the settings, but bios only shows cas 2 or 2.5,not cas 3!
i put the timmings as low as the bios let it ,and it can only put it like:
2.5-3-6-3

as it runs on cas 2,5 i cant go to 200 fsb....not even 175 fsb...

help,someone?

Odds are, one option you have is to lower other timings, 3-3-6 to 4-4-10, if possible. Also, raising vdimm may help. There's also a possibility that mixing memory will reduce the top speed.

Sorry, the timings I mentioned may only be available in an NF2 mobo... However, what voltage are you running the memory? If stock (2.5v), you could try 2.6 or 2.7v. It should be safe, and usually helps a bit.

2.8v it canīt pass 170 fsb...
even with the more relaxed timmings.
do not buy this memory unless u dont have cash enough for a decent one.

Try cooling the NB a bit better.
Blow a fan on it & try to increase fsb.
Mine will only do 187 fsb with stock cooling but with a 60mm fan blowing on the NB then 200+ is possible(207 cas my highest IIRC).

Since a JEDEC CAS 3 PC3200 stick is only specified for 167MHz at CAS2.5 with "similar" TRAS, TRP & TRCD based upon a command rate of 2T and no bank interleave - your memory is doing "enough" by doing 170MHz.

Exclamation Epox Tech is right.

You need better RAM modules to operate at 200 MHz as long as there is a slight difference between marketing and reality.
