Exclamation 8rda+ mcp-t southbridge ob AC'97 audio

Just what I have found out with my epox-8rda+:

IMO the ob audio isnt the same as other mobo's with the mcp-t southbridge, I was experiencing machine lag in games, I've tried alot of things, then the other day I was tired of not having all the audio jacks that should have been there so I disabled the ob AC'97 audio in bios and installed my old sblive!5.1 and the machine lag in games is now all gone, plus the crackle thru my 5.1 speakers is gone now too, I tried all the versions of nf2 drivers but no luck, I get no more crackling thru speakers. So IMO the ob audio on the 8rda+ is not true soundstorm.

Please do not remove this post, as I think it is useful info for users of this mobo and maybe will help others solve audio problems they have, I dont partically like the sblive card I'm using, but its working better than the ob audio that was supposed to be good? I dont recommend sblive cards, cause alot have problems with those as well. Also IMO the 8rda+ mcp-t is not nvidia certified either, is that why the 8rda3+ doesnt use the mcp-t ob audio?

specs: xp2400, 512 pc3200ram, 200gb drive, dvd/cd/cdrw combo, gf4mx460, sblive!5.1, netgear 10/100 nic.

Can we assume that you have active cooling on the northbridge ,passive on the southbridge and still have problems with sound? If you don't you should try it and throw away the sb.It could void your warranty but it shouldn't as they do the same with the newer boards.

I have active cooling on both northbridge and southbridge, I added that as soon as I got this mobo. Thanks for the advice.

also its not nvidia soundstorm certified: http://nvidia.com/object/motherboards.html

The only reason it's not certified is that the SPDIF bracket is not included with the mobo.I assume you have a SPDIF bracket and 5.1 speakers with a digital decoder? Otherwise, you were never using the soundstorm to begin with.Using Onboard sound and using soundstorm are two different things.
